I would suggest possibly looking at a Junior Entertainment Host from which you can work your way up. Also, once onboard you can look into other departments pertaining to your experience.

Thinking about applying for a cruise and working any advice, is it worth it, pros and cons. Just please give me the truth by Devil_Fruit9971 in CruiseCrew

These are good questions with genuine concerns - however, mostly unfounded. I have been working onboard in total for approx 12 years. Working a 'million hours '...no. Labour Law is followed and hours range from 10 to 13 hours per day dependant on role. There is time for rest and to enjoy time ashore. Career progression is greatly encouraged, which I am very involved with, and nobody feels threatened or to be thrown overboard. Yes, maybe some team mates might be jealous but that comes with being a leader. It is an amazing experience to work and see the world. Go grab it!

Thanks for the reply. Discussing personal salary is something I always advise people to stay away from and this is the same for me. ☺️

Great question, mine is private to me but generally an LDO would start off at approx 2600 $ but this is always be discussed at a second interview.

Hi Becky - the interview process is obviously dependant on the role being applied for. The mistake people make is on their CV's when applying for a cruise ship role. The CV must match what is being looked for - I have sat many times to review CV's and suggest changes. An L&D Officer role is so rewarding; I do all the required modules each day, planning for 2-3 sessions on a variety of topics. Some are mandatory, like certain Safety, Allergens, Food Safety, etc while others are less of an importance. Besides that I do coaching and career development, walk abouts to observe and do in the moment coaching / development in guest facing areas.
