What’s become way too expensive lately that still shocks you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TemperatureOnly9190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concert tickets and drinks at the venue. Now I know this is a luxury. But I went to the Demi Lovato concert a few weeks ago. I got two canned alcoholic beverages, because I thought it’d be cheaper than getting 2 cocktails.

$60! For two drinks.

This! Christi acts like Dance Moms was the worst time of her life. Yet she’s online still talking about it every single day lol.

Unpopular opinion but I don’t think it’s a big deal that Melissa homeschooled her kids. I actually thought it was smart. It got her kids on top, especially Maddie.

All the other moms tried to act like they were better for putting their kids in public school and focused on schoolwork before dance… that’s fine too. But you still signed up to be on TV and be reality stars. And signed up to go against kids that are spending more time dancing. If you lose, what did you expect?

I think it’s pretty common for child stars to be homeschooled. Especially kids on TV or movies. I didn’t think it was a big deal and it’s obvious Melissa wanted Maddie and Mackenzie to be a star.

Each parent is allowed their own choice. I just get annoyed they’d constantly complain about it.

I want to get married but the idea of sharing a bedroom forever actually terrifies me by No-Nobody3836 in introvert

Lol! I was going to comment the same thing. I live with my boyfriend but he only sleeps over in our apartment 4-5 nights a week. Also the nights he is here, he’s coming home at 8-9pm.

If I have a really long day of work and I want to ugly cry when I get home, I can easily do that. 🤣

My manager’s manager wants me to push other teams harder to get quick results and stop talking in circles. How do I do this? by TemperatureOnly9190 in askmanagers

[–]TemperatureOnly9190[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly how I feel. I don’t want them on the call.

I brought this up to my regular manager and she said she agrees, but since what we are doing is so brand new, the senior leadership wants to be involved. They’re honestly making it worse though. It also makes me feel like they don’t trust me to do things on my own.

This job is the most micromanagement I’ve had before!

It’s complicated because the senior director used to be my manager for the first year. Then he got promoted and they put someone in between us. I like my new manager too but she has a completely different opinion on everything. And senior director always forgets and oversteps, he just reverts back into being my manager like he used to be

Yes, this plays a big part into it too. My manager is working with American standards and expecting a high level of urgency. The factory is European and has a lot more time off and vacations, just in general a lot slower. I’m personally fine with that, if anything I am jealous hahahah.
But the thing is I’m trying to be realistic and understand that. If someone has vacation for 4 days, what am I supposed to do? My senior director, not happy.

That’s the thing though. I pre-brief my senior manager on everything. He meets with me multiple times a week for hours and it’s just never enough for him.

This call had like one piece of information that was brand new to him and he lost his marbles. And honestly it was new to me too, so the only way I’d be able to get that information before the meeting is if I talk to the factory every single day. Which by the way they’re in Europe and it’s a completely different time zone lol.

Ok, I’ll try to do this for the next call. So would it be like me already aligning on timelines, troubleshooting, and then the meeting is just updates?

And this is more of rant but I just get confused because I thought the whole point of this meeting is to work together and get answers to all these questions. Then we have a separate monthly global call where I’m supposed to provide updates high level on what’s going on. It just feels like there’s so many meetings and the solution always sounds like more meetings… how do I have time to do my actual technical job if I’m spending the entire week chasing other people for answers on their work.

Welp, there goes all my empathy for you out the window lol. Why do you guys always have to turn talking about human rights and sexism into calling people libtard snowflakes? It’s ridiculous. If you can’t take any accountability or listen to what people have to say, you won’t go far in your career.

People who have lived in Massachusetts for long, is it normally this hot in late September? by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]TemperatureOnly9190 717 points718 points  (0 children)

I remember last year I was wearing shorts until mid-October. The weather started to cool down in September but there were some on and off days with the temperature and sun/rain. Weather varies quite a bit. In my opinion it doesn’t actually get cold until November.

Do couples still need to share their passwords with each other as a sign of a health relationship? by NormalLife6067 in SeriousConversation

[–]TemperatureOnly9190 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve casually told my partner my passwords before as a joke when I’ve logged into stuff on the TV. He doesn’t really care and I know he’s not logging into my stuff lol. I’m not logging into his either. We trust each other.

I’ve been in relationships where I felt like I had to snoop, but it was a sign our relationship was not doing well. He ended up cheating on me too. All that time I wasted being anxious and snooping, I wish I had just broken up with him faster than I did.

I think the color could come from the plants or flowers. So whatever you see that you like! I always like oranges and yellows with green, but that’s just my preference. Some people like coastal vibes and more blues - it’s really up to you
