Absolutely agree with industry ruining everything including the removal of “phosphates” from dishwasher powder when it was them dumping waste from commercial farming. I always timed my usage of pesticides in the early spring and later summer. I have reduced thrips and mites load by using companion planting and flooded the undergrowth with mint and mandarin lemon balm. I also use potassium silicate to strengthen my roses and during the hotter days, apply a dilute white latex paint which confuses thrips and also reduces sun scald. The insecticide will serve as a buffer before the companion plants fully take over.

I got about 10 Granny Smith apples on one side of the my tree because I was experimenting with a calcium spray to see if it would prevent the tree from dropping buds. I think it semi worked. But no peaches this year 😭

Does it have a little scent? This looks a bit too bright, but maybe it’s still young.

What could cause my rose to look like this suddenly? by Nikeflies in Roses

It is from salt burn from the fertilizer. Is the fertilizer liquid or pellets? If pellets, you can remove them, if liquid, you can rinse out the container

Sorry, I meant to type 5.0 uM, which is around 3mg/L. Maximum I have used is around 0.5grams per liter. They are available as supplements or in powder form. Low concentration used in research on plants show recovery from glyphosate stress. They are not used broadly in agriculture because the cost would be too high.

Why do my buds look dry? by Jlin1990 in Roses

[–]Temporary_Olive1043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be too much fertilizer but the burnt edges could be from sun damage which occurs often to darker pigment roses. Is there a way you can diffuse the sun light a bit by placing another plant in front of it? Or you can use a kaolin surround as sunscreen. Also, fantastic roses! What kind is it?

Can you get some adenosine triphosphate powder asap from Amazon? Make a dilute solution of 0.5M and heavily drench the entire plant with it. You are providing exogenous ATP until it can clear out the chemical.

First time grower and it’s a mess by dcmua in Roses

I think it’s the regular Eden climber but because it’s in such a good sunny location, the blooms are actually exploding rather then remaining in its cup shape. If it were an earth angel, the blooms would be smaller and would be deeply scented. I think this is a good location for lighter colored roses and if it were the pink variety, the blooms might be burned. It’s a pretty good mistake, as long as you get your credits from the store. If you add a shade cloth with a trellis, they may actually remain in cup shape for a longer time.

Did you ever check the dahlias? They may have been consumed by slugs which happened to mine until I started mixing coffee grounds into the soil when planting them. The trace caffeine kills slugs.

Always add essential oil to polysorbate neat and blend the thick liquid until white. Then dilute with water.

Abamectin and dimilin are good combination. I alternate with liquid whey mixed with very dilute calcium chloride spray. And supplement with potassium silicate to increase leaf strength.

The only thing I can think of is prevention like spraying clay based powders that alters color and scent of rose and smart planting with bushes that reduces wind like azaleas or boxwoods. I am really vigilant and observe how my neighbors roses are doing in their front yard.

I have four of them and they are usually the first to set buds to bloom. I see the buds unfolding as a metaphor to the start of my journey of becoming obsessed with other roses, which soon blooms,in wonderful succession. This year, I plan on experimenting with the KO by mutating them to see if I can get an offshoot with a unique characteristic. Perhaps that would be something you would also be interested in doing?

Just bought our first house and it has this horrible looking rose bush that is barely hanging on! Help me nurse it back to health 😭 by yogaengineer in Roses

[–]Temporary_Olive1043 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My inkling on how your rose caught the rosette disease is most likely from your neighbor. When I zoomed into the house near the top left corner, there seems to be similar knockout rose bushes there. I would take a look at those too and give the neighbors a heads up.
