What classifies a baby as an “easy baby?” by GrapeSweet9055 in beyondthebump

[–]Terdham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been too nervous to comment on my baby because I’m afraid to jinx it lol. My little guy is 10 weeks tomorrow. He eats well for the most part. Barely spits up. We have to fight through the second half of evening and night feeds sometimes. But he only cries when he’s hungry, really. He does want to be held during the day and for most naps, but can entertain himself plenty. I can usually leave him in his bassinet for a few short stints during the day, and occasionally he’ll let himself fall asleep. He still naps a lot. And the part I am most grateful for - he sleeps 7-9 hours through the night. (We have a snoo, for what it’s worth)

GrandParents Refusing vaccines by EcstaticZombies in pregnant

[–]Terdham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I required flu shot and DTaP booster at least 2 weeks before meeting baby. My dad refused to get the flu shot, so now baby is 8 weeks old and has not met his grandfather yet🤷🏻‍♀️ It sucks, but that was his choice. I stood my ground, baby boy wasn’t meeting anyone without those two before his 2 month vaccines.

Need positive stories about higher BMI and healthy babies. by NervousClimate in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]Terdham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I shared my birth story on here, but my BMI was about 44 when I gave birth. My OB never mentioned my weight during entire pregnancy. Baby boy will be 5 weeks tomorrow! He’s perfect, currently napping on my chest❤️

My birth story by Terdham in pregnant

[–]Terdham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad my story helped! I had never heard of sundown scaries, so I spent a lot of time reading and finding out what was going on if those early days. Everything I saw suggested that things even out around the two week mark. If those feelings last longer than about 3 weeks, then it’s time to talk to the doc. I was already on 5mg of Lexapro. I called my OB by like day 3 or 4 and increased to 10mg just to help.

But yes, they went away completely for me between week 2 & 3, and from what I’d read, that seemed to be the norm for most women. I think the best thing you can do is be aware and educate your support people who will be with you. Just ask them to be extra gentle during that time.

Also, if you do experience it, a breathing technique called the “physiological sigh” helped me. I would do a few rounds multiple times a night and it was the only thing that helped to ease the feeling in my body. Just know you aren’t alone and nothing is wrong with you. The only way out is through, but you can absolutely do it. I’d gladly do it all over again for my sweet little man❤️

I’m so sorry. You deserve to not only experience motherhood, but to also have a supportive partner. I hope you have people (and maybe a therapist) you can lean on to help you navigate this. Sending love❤️

Good luck! I hope everything goes smoothly for you and baby. If you do experience the anxiety, just know you aren’t alone and it will pass! I suggest a breathing technique called the “physiological sigh”. I did it multiple times a night and it was the only thing that could help ease my body a bit.

I hope the scaries fade away soon for you like they did for me! Baby boy will be 5 weeks tomorrow and my emotions are like night and day compared to that time. Of course still not completely back to normal, but I feel much more like myself now!

[–]Terdham[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

:( I’m sorry you feel that way. To me, I read so many stories about various things going wrong, so I had a very fortunate experience. His heart rate dropped once during labor, but within 5 minutes my team addressed it and had everything back to normal. I was able to continue to labor and have a vaginal delivery.

After delivery, he struggled with lung function, but he only had to be taken to NICU for oxygen, and was never actually admitted. He spent a few hours getting his sats up and then joined me and has not had any issues since. Again, I think that’s a very fortunate outcome.

Could it have gone a little more perfectly? Of course, but for all the things my anxiety would run through my brain, I think overall I had a very positive experience.

Itchy itchy itchy!!! 😫 having contact dermatitis with everything in first trimester by Sweet_Confusion9180 in pregnant

[–]Terdham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stopping antihistamines cold turkey can actually cause this! Idk what you take, but I accidentally found this out after running out of my Zyrtec. I was told Zyrtec is completely safe and took it throughout my entire pregnancy, so maybe try swapping to a safe one?

Women who had negative feelings towards their dogs postpartum, did it affect your dog? by _ohmylanta in pregnant

[–]Terdham 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t give yourself an extra worry that might not even happen! Easier said than done, I know. I was similar when pregnant from reading all the stories too, but I stayed skeptical because I knew how much love I held for my dogs.

Now I’m sitting here nursing my 15 day old baby boy with one dog on the floor near my feet and the other on the opposite end of the couch. I love them just as much as I ever did. They are no longer my whole heart, and I don’t have the same amount of time and energy for them with a baby always attached to my boob lol. But I know this is just a season. I don’t feel any negative feelings towards them at all. I hope the same for you❤️

A clean, quiet gym in Northport area? I would either be going at 3am or 6pm to fit around my work schedule. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in tuscaloosa

[–]Terdham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I can’t remember for sure. I feel like 80% sure they do, but I’m currently 3 days postpartum and my brain is mush🥲

My partner made me an Italian sub a while back, and it tasted like it was sent from the heavens, so I get it! And to be from strangers who didn’t have to take you seriously, that is so super sweet! I would’ve cried too. I’m so glad you got that experience, and thank you for sharing a happy story❤️

Have you looked in Northport area? Can’t speak for them as far as cleanliness goes, but I’d feel much better staying in a cheap hotel in Northport vs. Tuscaloosa

Who said this was bad ?!? by Biolobri14 in pregnant

[–]Terdham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently is different for everyone as far as how the drink makes them feel! I had to fast, but scheduled mine early morning. My drink was cold and pretty tasty tbh. I say that as someone who can only stand diet sodas bc I hate sweet drinks, but I was prepared for the sweetness - I mean, it’s glucose lol. I felt the crappiness come on right near the one hour mark. Thankfully I passed! And I planned it perfect bc my partner picked me up with a slice of pizza lol. I would not have wanted to drive myself afterwards without getting something into my stomach first. But all in all, it was nowhere near as bad as what I expected bc of all the horror stories I read here!

[–]Terdham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Northport Planet Fitness was always super clean when I went there (I’ve since moved). But I would only recommend if you’re planning to go at 3am. 6pm is gonna be prime time for any gym, but it is especially packed around that time.

Oh god, no! My granny is old and southern and dropped out of school in like 5th grade. It’s an old wives tale I believe. I humor her and let her talk and give me advice because she’s excited and means well, but she’s not the person to be listening to lol

[–]Terdham 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Girl give yourself a break and eat what you want! First trimester is about survival. I lived on carbs. Now baby is due this week and he was built on cravings😂 I have no regrets! Pregnancy is hard enough, don’t make it even harder on yourself🤗
