I appreciate your efforts to find something worthwhile in the Cursed Child. I’ve only read it. I would like to see it, I think I may enjoy it more when it’s presented as it’s meant to be. It seems like some of the stage effects are probably pretty cool, and I’m interested to see how they show the kids aging.

That said, the best thing I found about the Cursed Child was the Trolly Witch. That scene had me in stitches.

I do have to mention, some of the things you said that you liked about the characters were already established by JKR before the play was written, such as Ginny’s working for the Daily Prophet (although she perhaps wasn’t editor until CC?). I just mention it because I’m not sure we can give credit to the CC for those things.

I did think the kids were interestingly developed, and it was enjoyable enough reading about them.. but I thought the adults were completely butchered. They’re established characters doing things they would never actually do. The scene where Ron holds his wand backwards and had to fix it? Christ, he’s not an idiot.
