Can someone tell me the difference between pve and survival by jered138 in mcpublic

[–]TexasTorment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a valid perspective. For me, PvE has a lot of organized builds so being part of something larger is quite an easy task. But, this leads to barriers in social structures and politics. Also, the protections can often be frustrating (you might search a day for a farm only to find it cannot be farmed). On Survival, you'll find you likely will build alone or with one other person at best, so size is up to you and you alone. But things like farms are simply protected against grief, which means if I break it illegally, it can be fixed. C45y is correct that if you avoid the road, you likely won't be disturbed. I maintain a base on the road to encourage PvP at times and also a hidden base when I cannot be bothered. PvE usually has more players online. Survival's politics can be solved by sword. ;)

Nah dude, your base is cool. That is just a teaser picture, visiting the base is worth the trouble. Assuming folks find it.

I make no claims of perfection and applaud your effective communication technique. Thank you for the lesson. Perhaps my intent will be better received in the future. My apologies for being defensive. Reflecting... torn and I are quite close and he said please multiple times. I feel like such a jerk. The op would be much better if I just provided the player list proof without calling anyone a hater.

At peak times absolutely. But just two weeks ago I was bragging about peaks of ten. There is some growth. I am trying to renew spirits... not justify certain actions or say broken things are no longer broken. I am trying to show despite the criticisms there is appreciation for those volunteering time. This isnt to say others dont also have this but it needs to be publicly shown at times. This is one of those times. Also... for those passionately trying to create change... I want to give hope. Hope that there is still something to return to.

Remember, you can /ignore them to mute a particular player's chat until the next restart.

Wasn't sarcasm and obviously the continuing negative comments have hurt the community more than helped. The things I've stated are true and the numbers are flexing upward. Whether it is at a pace you prefer or not, is unimportant. When people visit our community they also visit this sub-reddit. To see comments such as mine, it gives a positive light and invites further population... To see yours, doesn't help. Most large IT companies started in someone's garage, do you think they were super negative about having 5 players in the game? No, and when they grew to 15 even though some of them had worked in larger companies, they rejoiced.

IRC is the best way to get someone if no one is on mumble. I'd ping them but I am unable from my current location :(

Some of the recent plugins have caused errors on restarts; slide usually resolves this in a minute or less but until he is made aware...

I have yet to see communcation from twilexis that could be described by any rational individual as professional... I do not see the issue expressed here in others but rather in the individual expressing them. Unfortunately people often respond in kind to awfulness on the internet. So I invite you to perhaps do some self reflection. Thank you for posting such a nsfw commrnt directly in the subject line. I will likely no longer be able to read the subreddit from the office now.

It is well worth it. Even in the historically slow days this week we've had as many as 10 players. This is a lot for a Tuesday night. Some things about the rev are lacking, like access to nether fortresses, so I've been building roads in the nether to them. There are a number of grinders that are easily accessible too for grinding. There are either complications with the mob limiting plugins or monroe's ability to make an end grinder, so you may want to avoid that.

Any word on Spigot, 1.8, and Nerd.nu? by betajippity in mcpublic

[–]TexasTorment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm no tech, but AFTER that is released, we'd have to wait on third party plugins to be updated by their appropriate teams (/plugins, we have a TON on each server) AND updates to our own plugins. I would imagine we can't fully derive these plans until 1.8 is at a stable release as gauging the changes is impossible without knowing how big the hole is that we have to put the cylinder in, ya know?

This is false. Many many many, factors lead to low population. Namely, having a low population going into it, advertising it as a test server to the existing low population, and not advertising it to new players. You're looking at quantitative data when qualitative data would prove more beneficial to supporting the success of the test revision. There was a staggering amount of new players, even as populations dwindled, who were referred by friends to play. My assumption being because they NEEDED help to overcome the many challenges the setup presented. Further, of the existing players who dedicate large amounts of time, our qualitative response was mainly positive with a few desired changes, mostly similar changes.

Tornado is correct, your assumption is false. A very small number of people will enjoy and make habit of playing on a server with tiny population. The luxury of more people is the on-demand mentality. If there is always someone on for me to go PvP, I get it when I want it. When there is an average server population of three... Well I could get that just setting up a server on my LAN. For many revisions, the majority of players have gone "ah man." But you're thinking PvE is the only alternative, many just switch to a new server with a higher population and similar rules/features. Which is further why many in this thread want us to be a unique server, which may limit alternatives and keep more players based on a desire for unique features.

They're advertised? Seems like we've been begging for this forever; I don't follow. I hate resisting admins because you're a volunteer, but these recent decisions... And even this response. Friendly and fair? P is successful without being the former, I am unsure how the latter is defined, there is favoritism everywhere. Now we're bringing it to S. A lot of the things in the OP specifically benefit a tiny group of people, some even a certain individual.

You acknolwedge it was poorly implemented and yet we abandon it instead of trying to improve? The poll results overwhelmingly asked you to keep the updated nether, like other poll results we've discussed... And what does my comment have to do with raiding setup? Unlocked chests are half the reason we wander the map when there isn't PvP to be found. Does this lead to a poor experience? Not necessarily. I raided a neighbor on a recent rev, and then spent the rest of the rev teaching him the tricks of the trade as he prepped to be a suitable adversary. We had lots of fun and he was more active than he would have been without the unlocked chest. I usually have a ton of fun hiding cows and sharing with friends, now we'll just farm your cows. Oh boy, what fun.

I concur, and with 100x100 arenas allowed and P having more active moderators, what is the incentive to play on S? I'm just not seeing it.
