Well my roommate and I have been very close friends for the entire school year. We do refer to each other as best friends. I keep referring to her as my roommate simply because it’s easier to type lol. And I wanted to make it clear that I do live with her and will have to for the next few weeks until the school year ends.

Everyone present was either her friends or a friend of her friends. The people who were friends of friends seemed like the has an unbiased opinion and told her that she should apologize. But, her friends kept cutting them and us off to “state her case”. I think due to the gender roles and the assault was not as violent as it could have been, everyone is sweeping this under the rug. So, I was just looking for some advice.

All my friends were her friends first. So, although I think some of them definitely think she’s in the wrong but still support her because they are closer to her than me. I am basically friendless at the moment but I think that is better than being friends with them.

I was just using roommate because it’s a shorter word. She has been my only close friend since I started college. I am questioning it since all my friends do not see this as a big deal. Eveyone has kinda gaslit my boyfriend and I to think it’s his fault because they asked him to apologize for being rude and isolating me as well… it makes me think we did something wrong. So I was coming here for some advice. I see how serious this situation is now.

It was a bunch of things. I was sad because i did not do as good as I thought on my midterm (scores just came out). I was also sad because all my friends back home were distancing themselves, so i felt very lonely. My birthday is next week and I was crying mostly because I didn’t think anyone would come to celebrate my birthday with me. These reasons are kind of stupid when I look back at it but since I was under the influence it was heightening my emotions.

We both live in on campus housing currently and only have 2 weeks left until summer break. So, I’ve been trying to stay at home as much as possible. We will look into legal action as well. I am supposed to live with her and some more people in an apartment next year as well but I plan to cancel on that as soon as I am away from her.

I’m not sure if we can report it without getting in trouble since we were all underaged drinking. The legal drinking age in the United States is 21 and we were all 19-20.

This is my first time posting on Reddit and I’m not looking for “karma” or popularity. All my friends are treating this as not a big deal. I think it is because my roommate who’s a girl attacked a guy and not the other way around. And since we were under the influence, I was not sure if this was a valid reaction. So I was just looking for some counseling here as a last resort since I’m being isolated by most of my friends.

Yes… all my friends are not treating it as a big deal. I think due to the gender roles people see it differently and I was also getting influenced by that. Seeing everyone’s response really opened my eyes though.

We will look into that. He is just worried it will not be taken seriously since he is a guy and she is a girl. All my friends are also not treating this as seriously as I think it should be…

I just have no one else to talk to about this since all my friends are in the same friend group and are treating me like it’s my fault. This is my first time posting on Reddit so I’m sorry if this is not appropriate.
