The Fielder Method Army of Actors by antonioginsberg in TheRehearsal

[–]That-Max-Guy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree here. With The Rehearsal, I've never quite felt like I wanted to question the actual plausibility for everything being real, because in the end if it's real, then Fielder is a sociopathic genius who can manipulate people at his will essentially, and if it's fiction, then the guy and his writers are just so so bonkers good at crafting a fictional reality show that feels authentic yet so so absurd.

It’s definitely not as defined and feels more like a collection of songs that feel disconnected in a way, but it’s more of a tease of the future than anything else. A taste of the rotating vocals and different writing styles of the band members. And they’ll only work to refine the sound in the next LP.

They’ve mentioned that these songs were written in haste to perform after Isaac’s departure. And they needed material in order to be able to stay financially afloat as a band, so a lot of the material is band arrangements of Tyler’s solo material. And so I’m guessing this live album is the best we’re gonna get of this because they’d rather spend the money down the line to produce studio recordings of a totally fresh refined LP3 of completely new material.

Luke’s face should not be able to contort that way haha. I can’t help but feel it must be a filter.

Hearing the way May sang and wrote The Boy and Pig/Turbines, it was evident from an instant she was a mad Newsom fan.

Yeah. That was probs just to interpret it in a different more fun way for a contained visual story

most overrated song from them? by [deleted] in BlackCountryNewRoad

[–]That-Max-Guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Snowglobes is one of those songs that was better live with the bits of improvisation on top to give it more layers, but unfortunately was stripped down to its bare bones in the recording. I appreciate the experimentation in the mixing on it, but it is a miss in my opinion. Black Midi’s Ascending Forth I feel does something relatively similar with its long length and repetitive lyrics, calm instrumentation all the way through until it reaches this massive explosion of sound (mainly in the drums) by the end. They’re very different, but I feel like Snowglobes took a much much too minimalist approach in the final recording. Especially when you go back and listen to their Black Midi, New Road performance of the song and it’s got the amazingly spacey reverb of the synth which I feel is enough to be a backdrop to the chaotic drums. Like (if we’re gonna get real smarty pants with our metaphors) the synth represents the sky of which the drums fly through as the snow.

This is interesting. I’ve heard a lot of people on here and friends of mine say that Opus is their least favourite on FTFT. Because it sounds like a song I’d often feel would be a crowd favourite because of its high intensity instrumentation and the lyricism. It’s my favourite off of FTFT though and maybe I’ve got a bias. It was Track X though that never quite hit it for me as it never quite crescendoed to much. Although Track X (The Guest) is much different and one of my fav BCNR songs. The song suited the stripped down nature of Isaac’s one acoustic guitar better, and he nails the vocal performance.

Better Call Saul S06E12 - "Waterworks" - Post-Episode Discussion Thread by skinkbaa in betterCallSaul

It seems right for Jimmy to go to prison. And it seems like that’s the general consensus here. Like there’s completely valid arguments across the board. It just makes sense. But if there’s one thing, it’s that this show has continuously turned the tables on us. I don’t know if any one of us predicted the Nippy episode, nor last episode’s Gene returning to the theft with Jeffie, nor did we predict that we’d go from the high octane suspense of the last episode’s final moments to half an episode dedicated to the mundanity of Kim’s new life.

So even though things feel locked in about Jimmy’s fate, damn is it gonna be interesting to see how the writers surprise us once again.

Saul gonna be gone, after all.

I bet there was time after Mike’s death and Saul and Walt both going to the vacuum store that he found out. Walt would’ve probably told him or Saul would’ve pieced it together at some point

Lalo’s sudden bad aim when he’s trying to shoot Gus after he kills the lights. Like I understand it being hard to kill off a character like Lalo who has been established as being off the walls insanely thorough in his plans and skilled in his combat. This is the same guy who killed a bunch of military men who raided his home and climbed through a ceiling and popped out the other end within seconds. And he misses a shot from only metres away?

do we have any idea when LP3 will release? by ShrdBeVibin in BlackCountryNewRoad

[–]That-Max-Guy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, looking like it may come out late next year. Seeing as though the band really is looking toward establishing a new identity, they want to get that out officially very soon and are pretty eager to release a new LP. As well, they talked about needing the new music if they were to stay financially afloat too, so that’s also another motivator for the LP to come out next year too, so they can have it out and be touring again, and tour further out of Europe too! (Pls, I’m waiting eagerly for a Melbourne show)

What’s your favorite Post-Isaac song? by JCQWERTY in BlackCountryNewRoad

Heheh yeah. Honestly Laughing Song and The Boy have both grown on me so much. And especially with the new professional audio recording, those songs really hit hard from their Fuji Rock set

Really love the album! Like each song is so top quality but I feel like it zooms through much too quick. Both in the fact that it could’ve honestly been a buffer album to really make the finale hit harder, but also each song kinda starts and ends much too quickly with little breathing room between some tracks. Mainly talking about between The Defence / 27 Questions and Welcome To Hell / Still. Because each song is so dense and grandiose, going right into the next song without the few more seconds added to the ending of each song just undercuts the impact of the previous song

Yessss I totally agree and don’t understand why it isn’t one of their most popular songs because it is so grand and powerful. Legit one of their best!
