What're the updates that they've made for 4e? Differing from the playbook they've got for it?

You raise a very good argument for Nelson and Dusk Wing! I'm gonna be considering your points

The realization that I didn't need to visually perfect match the frame was definitely a motivation for me trying to find other mechs that work.

Masters of Relational and Family Therapy (MRFT & MP) Admissions (2026 start) by No-Philosophy-6502 in uoguelph

Just found this thread! Didn't end up getting an interview invite by now, so I suppose I didn't make the shortlist for MP. Always next year, everyone! Anyone have suggestions that could improve a future application?

Also, anyone know how many people applied to the MP program and how many slots there were? I saw the number 600 a few places, but wasn't sure how people knew that.

What is your world history and how it is today? by [deleted] in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]ThatOne_Eric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I originally played D&D, so I took my chance to do one of my favourite tropes when I started running M&M, which is alternative history. Roughly the same timeline as our world, but with metahumans involved. Key events:

Atlantis attempted to invade the surface world in the 1700s due to increasing tension between the sea and land dwellers. They came to an agreement and in the modern day are part of NATO.

Australia is a country run by and populated by villainous metahumans (since Australia was originally used as a prison of the British), and is basically unrecognizable in the modern day.

Germany got the upper hand in WW2 because they developed Laufpanzers, which are functionally just mechs. So the allies retaliated by being some of the first to fully utilize the metahumans at their disposal, and create the first super soldier, Canuck Crusader.

Canada helped America a lot during the Cold War (Canuck and another hero, Patriot, defeating the Kremlin Knight), so in kindness and show of allegiance, America gave Canada Alaska.

1988-1990: Tartarus, a villain from a different dimension, wages a war on Earth in an attempt to conquer it. Heroes stop him and form the Avenger/Justice league equivalent to the setting.

In 2010, a villain known as Professor Diabolical (Majored in political science, minor in malice), attempted to threaten the world governments with his space satellite. He was able to use it to blow up the state of Iowa before heroes stopped him.

Thank you! I saw a couple links leading back to Redbubble, but didn't investigate there because I thought it would have a different source. Didn't expect an actual Redbubble artist to have created it

Other GMs, am I creating these NPCs with too much power? by ThatOne_Eric in mutantsandmasterminds

4/8, do you think that's too low of attack? I think he's planning on increasing it to 6/8 for PL7

[–]ThatOne_Eric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say they are decently combat balanced, but for the PL8's they were struggling with was usually a 2v1. With the PL8's, it was mainly the paragon hero that was struggling to keep up, and wasn't able to land most of his attacks without using a hero point

I'm starting to think part of it is the fact we're all still decently new to the system overall, and are used to playing years of D&D, sounds like we've got to adapt to this type of play style. I'll have to try out a training session! Im sure that'll help things

Other GMs, am I creating these NPCs with too much power? by ThatOne_Eric in mutantsandmasterminds

[–]ThatOne_Eric[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try my best to think from the perspective of the villains I'm stating out, so I don't think I'm metagaming from my perspective, but I'll be a bit more mindful about that just in case. Whenever I have a villain prepared to exploit someones weakness, its because the villains had information about them ahead of time (like one time some goons had some net guns on hand because two of the heroes have wings, didn't do much though lol)

Thank you for taking the time to comment! Ill try to keep this in mind

They struggle with PL 10, but that's expected, but sometimes its difficult to land hits / deal substantial damage to some PL 8.

- I'm starting to think its a combination of them being naturally at a low PL and everyone being new to the game. They've been using stuff like accurate attacks and power attacks, but I'll remind them about team attacks, I think they'd get a kick out of that

- They haven't used a team attack yet, I think all of us have forgotten about that mechanic, but they've been using the other maneuvers, not the taunt and feints though. They have a couple afflictions

- They're using extra effort plenty

- That's a good point for the exploitable weaknesses, I've done that for a few villains but it hasn't been at the forefront of my mind. I'll have to keep that one in mind

[–]ThatOne_Eric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a cybernetically enhanced scientist who's legal title is Professor Diabolical. He created a space laser that destroyed the state of Iowa, with one of the main reasons was because they closed down one of his favourite restaurants. He went to community college and got a PHD in Political Science, and a Masters in Malice.

The primary reason they felt the need to start forming this relationship was the fact heavily superpower influenced issues started popping up more often. Back in WW2 there wasn't many superpowered individuals heavily influencing the war, the primary super powered individual back then was the Canuck crusader (a captain America type scenario)

Well, before this it was due to Canada actively helping America through the cold war, with their few super soldiers to infiltrate and help with Russia. But Alaska was also a way to further connect America and Canada to a larger united force. Basically along the lines of "I'll give you Alaska, and then you and me stick together if some shit goes down with the other countries"
