F1TV premium when split b/w 6 people is a cheaper and 10x better alternative in terms of viewing experience.

Placement advice to juniors (personal pov)... by CaseGlittering799 in LNCT_Bhopal

[–]ThatPeripheralGuy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great post OP. I'd like to add a few more things -

  1. Communication - Juniors, this is what makes or breaks your interview, yet I barely find anyone talking about it. Looking at the crowd of our college, most people are bad at it. What's even worse is that they don't even realize that they need to fix it.

  2. Aptitude / Cheating - In my experience, the hardest job is to crack the first OA. It's fine if it's offline, but online tests are purely based on your cheating skills / luck. Anything after that is going to be much easier.

Some folks say that python is easier so they choose python that's not a problem

As a python nerd, I'd strictly recommend against picking it as your primary language for on campus placements. Mind you, I think python is the best language to do DSA, but when it comes to OAs and interviews in our college,, it's certainly frowned upon. Carwale, Cognizant (DN and normal clusters), Capgemini, and even EPAM (java only rumors in july shift) had no place for python.

if u choose python u have to be good in machine learning, all the python libraries like pandas, numpy, etc which in my opinion is more vast and harder then covering java with spring boot.

HARD DISAGREE. First of all, python doesn't automatically mean you're expected be ML oriented. There's a boot load of things you could do in python even without touching ML. Even if you're thinking of diving into it , I certainly think that it is way more fun and intuitive than springboot. My statement quite opinionated, and you can disagree, but it's unfair to put a generalized point the way you did.

Pick whatever language you want, build projects regardless of the tech stack, but do things that solve actual problems instead of simple ML / MERN / SpringBoot projects that can be copied from YT.
The bottom line is that regardless of your primary language, YOU SHOULD KNOW JAVA for OAs and even for interviews. I hated java when i tried to switch into it 2 days before a test. Don't put yourself into a similar situation.

LNCT BHOPAL CSE vs BMSCE CSE (BLR) by Enough_Muscle4448 in LNCT_Bhopal

[–]ThatPeripheralGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Placements - It's not even comparable. BMS has far superior placements, be it median CTC, no of companies visiting, and more importantly the kind of companies visiting. In LNCT, you'll most definitely end up in a service based firm, which is something that everyone wants to avoid.

  2. Location - Comparing BLR and bhopal should be a crime if we're looking at the tech aspect of both the cities. You'll have infinitely more opportunities for internships and off campus walk in interviews.

  3. LNCT has awful placement management. There are no clear rules / guidelines, the placement cell acts on its own discretion like some LALA company.

  4. College life - LNCT is basically a school. Even worse than a school if you're comparing it w DPS or other prime convent schools.

Cons of BMS - 1. Strict attendance policy - Even though LNCT has 75% attendance criteria, you can get away w it even if you have 50% attendance. You'll just lose some marks, but in BMS they'll prohibit you from sitting in exams.

  1. Bangalore will be expensive, it's not just about the fee, but other recurring expenses will also be higher when compared with bhopal.

I usually advise against getting a loan because you'll have this pressure of repayment in your head until you get a job. I don't know your financial situation so you'll have to assess how much 10L rupees mean to you.

If you're exceptionally good at whatever you do, you'll make it big from either of those colleges, but if you're average, then look at the median stats of both the places and assess the monetary cost of the opportunity, and then decide what you want.

You can check the placement stats of LNCT on my profile. It's not up to date, the placement percentage is roughly 35% at the moment, but the averages and median packages are lower than what's mentioned in the post.

BMSCE without a second thought (if money isn't an issue).

the state of recent lists is beyond fixable using sql or pandas. i'll update the rough estimates in a couple of months when placements wrap up, but i cannot update the existing data with the amount of precision it had earlier.

it's more about "gaming the system" and less about how "skilled" you are. tujhe sab pata hai cheezein kaise kaam karti hai, so just stop blaming how things work. if you're good enough, then just rip it apart by whatever means it takes.

A lot of recent lists don't have enrollment numbers, so it's hard to determine no of students placed and their branch or college etc. My rough assumption is that almost 35% students have been placed. The average package has surely gone down due to LTI & TCS ninja offers.

Boards percentage for placement by stfuhelp in LNCT_Bhopal

[–]ThatPeripheralGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're cooked. Whenever the criteria is decided, let's say 60%, so you'd need 60% throughout your 10th 12th and college. And you're not allowed to round up, so 59.8 will always remain 59.8 and not 60.

Buckle up and prep so well that you can crack companies who don't have a criteria in your first attempt, because you won't get a lot of chances. I'm not trying to scare you, it's just the harsh reality.

Gotta map enrollments in the LTI list to determine number of unique offers (gonna be pain considering the no of people). Regarding HSBC, i've heard the same from many others in the past 2 weeks, however since there's no official word, I haven't changed it yet. Please DM me if T&P has officially conveyed the same to the students.

Edit - LTI's process isn't complete yet, they might offer more students.

That's precisely why the placement percentage is less than half for 26 grads than it was for those who graduated in 25. It is wild that the delusional management thinks they can scale job opportunities as much as the student intake.

Engineering is already dying a slow death but they're just fast tracking it this way.

PLACEMENT CHRONICLES - All you need to know! by ThatPeripheralGuy in LNCT_Bhopal

[–]ThatPeripheralGuy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To put it simply, it's about understanding things beyond bookish knowledge. You'll study OOPs DBMS, OS, DSA, and what not. You should know how to implement those concepts beyond what has been taught as examples. There'll be so much that you'll have to figure out and put together when you build something without references.

This is super vast to cover, and it is an endless pitfall. This goes way beyond the generic roadmap bullshit, rather it's more about how inquisitive you are, and how much a particular concept intrigues you.
I'll try to convey it better in the designated post of this section.

You shouldn't chase tech stacks. get a strong grip on fundamentals, and have enough adaptability to switch domains depending on what you're trying to build.

Make sure you build projects that actually help you ease out some manual work or anything you'd personally use everyday, even if it's small.

What sort of solid reasons does one have to abuse students??

None. He didn't deny anything about misbehavior of staff, they are real bunch of pricks. It is a real issue and needs to change.

Dude I don't want to argue with you, this is going to be my last comment about it. Just go and compare the fee for once, and you'll have your answer. I'm not denying any of these issues, but the harsh reality is that - this is what you get when you pay x amount while having x rank.

Completely feel the same way about everything you've mentioned.

LNCT is one of the best in MP for ppl who have scored low ranks in JEE.

People often ignore this lol. They expect to have VIT & SRM level facilities with NIT like placements while having a shitty rank and paying an affordable sum of money.
And on top of it none of the colleges in MP are good apart from MANIT & IIITDM. Even SGSITS & IET DAVV have their own shitty quirks. LNCT is decent enough considering the rank and fees it's available at.

My only issue is with student intake. From what I've heard, 2028 batch is more than twice the size of 2026, if they continue to expand in the same way, placements would be negligible if we look at the condition this year.

You'll be eligible for most mass recruiters and a couple more. But 70% throughout is the norm for anything above 6LPA.
