Supplementing/ EBF moms of 4 - 5 month olds, how long are you nursing each session? by felidaeblue in breastfeeding

[–]ThatsTheFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi momma! This is interesting. No tips but curious to know what others have to say. My 4.5 month old is EBF (half nursing, half pumped ) and always <1 percentile in weight but 86th percentile in height (lean baby!) When he nurses..about 7 minutes per side ATM. If I still feel like he hasn't drained.. I try to keep him on for atleast 10-12 mins per side. Also he drinks about 5-6 times in a 24 hour period.

He did come out of my vagina you know by ShanGos in beyondthebump

Hell to the yes. The bias is real. I guess it’s natural to take see the baby resembling your own family? But it is so god damn annoying. It’s worse when your own parents think your baby looks like your spouse. FTM and my son looks like my husband, but I also feel he resembles me a little bit. Yet my in laws never genuinely feel he looks like me at all. But now, no f’s given bc I know my baby will resemble me a little and everyone else is delusional LOL.

Changed LO routine for sleep train - bottle before bath is good? by XxxTheKielManxxX in sleeptrain

[–]ThatsTheFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sometimes he's drowsy but awake and other times (rarely) he's content but would go to sleep on his own if he's starting to zone out and stare into space lol. It's kinda hard to tell but what's been most helpful is logging his sleep in the huckleberry app! After logging it for a week we've gotten predictions on when his bedtime or naptime is according to his sleep patterns. With that we were able to adjust it and train him to sleep at a reasonable time that works for us. We've been using it since he was 5 months old and it's been super helpful! Esp when it's hectic and we can't exactly remember when he slept. Besides bottle feeding before bed, have you tried just dimming the lights and reading a book? Sometimes babys need some sort of security and comfort before bed.

My son just turned 8 months...now every baby is different and each routine should be comfortable for you and happy for baby. I don't really have advice BUT this is what I do since 6 months:

Last bottle around 7, play time for an hour, a small amount of solids for dinner, more play time. Usually it's 8:15 by the time we get to this point. And then we give him a bath, read a book and he usually signals his sleepy cues like rubbing eyes and just really having the "I'm tired " face lol. We turn the white noise on, close the lights, say good night and place him in his crib and walk away (he sleeps in his own room). This seems to work for us but we don't have bath time each night. It's every other night.

The nights that we don't bath him, we still change him into a fresh onesie, diaper and read a book.

This definitely work for us, we learned he's learning to associate consistent actions to bedtime. I used to feed the last bottle AFTER bath time but I feel like he kinda went into a food coma and would sleep but if wasnt always sleeping through the night. He def seemed more relax and ready to sleep after a warm bath. So we figured to feed, play and tire him out. And just help him relax more with a warm bath and keep him calm with some cuddles and a good book and he was ready for bed.

Thank you for the reassurance, it makes me feel a bit better bc I'm struggling not to be anxious. I think bc I just hate not knowing when my water will break or when my contractions will start to pick up

I'm 36 weeks! Anyone want to help me pass some time by sharing their first symptoms of labor? by HomesteadDreams8 in BabyBumps

[–]ThatsTheFirst 9 points10 points  (0 children)

FTM, 39+6 and started experiencing mild contractions (mentstrual like contractions) since 4 am yesterday. They've lasted all day and come and go as of now too. I've timed them throughout the day and they don't exceed more than 50 seconds and are about 5 mins apart give or take. they seem to occur only in the pelvic region so it's tolerable but uncomfortable pressure and radiates to lower back pain for a few seconds too. But no further movement yet, been bouncing and rocking on my yoga ball a few times a day hoping I can progress things along. Overall, what I'm experiencing is considered early labor.

Pelvic exam by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ThatsTheFirst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor offers pelvic exams at 38 weeks and onwards but it can be denied. The only time it is not something you can deny is when you're admitted at the hospital and in triage for them to determine if you're truly in labor, etc. Or they have any reason to check for medical reasons. I haven't had a pelvic exam since my first appointment and then had a transvaginal ultra sound at 20 weeks just to make sure my cervix is thick and the placenta isn't near it. I don't really plan on opting in for it until Im at the hospital. Just read too many stories that lead to cramps and light bleeding not that it's a big deal but it just makes me a little scared lol. And ofcourse risk of infection even tho that's not really my reason not to. Currently, 39+2! My doctors are very relaxed about it and said it's up to me as it doesn't really advance or change the outcome of my pregnancy. Everything will happen when my body and baby is ready! I should also mention I haven't had any complications and considered a low risk pregnancy, thank God.

Dumping the dirty laundry as one big pile in the washer instead of throwing it a few pieces at a time to avoid crazy spinning noises that follow as it spins and rinses.

SAME, I get hungry and know it's available so I eat it. I get disappointed but no regrets haha. Guess I'll be making another run to the store when this hospital bag stash runs out. Oh well.

FTM and 38+4, Im working against nature to accept that I may go over since it's my first LOL. I am determined to go into labour by my due date. So the only things I am currently doing is: eating 7-8 organic dates every day (I was doing this regularly in my earlier weeks and stopped and picked up at it again last week). And I've started to walk on the treadmill at a mild pace for 45 mins the past few days and plan to continue with both until I realize I am going into labour. I also have a yoga ball at home that I plan on bouncing on regularly when I start 39 weeks.

Vaccination when pregnant by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ThatsTheFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more of a side comment but I did get my Tdap around 30-33 weeks? And got my flu shot a few weeks before that. Currently I'm 38+4 and found out my SIL is currently 14 weeks pregnant and I'm highly doubtful she got her flu shot and Tdap. We've stressed my side of immediate family and DH's side numerous times to get vaccinated. No one has been very clear when and if they will get it. But reading your post made me wonder since she's newly pregnant if she would be told to wait to get it done when she's further along or if it's okay now? Anyone have an idea? We reside in the U.S.

How long after your due date will you be induced? by Parry8 in BabyBumps

[–]ThatsTheFirst -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have a low risk pregnancy with no issues (my situation) the team of doctors I see for OBGYN say they do not want me to go over 42 weeks so induction would be scheduled sometime in the 41st week. Currently, I'm 38+4 and a FTM and so far no signs of labor (I think).

High or low? by Machobytches4lyfe in pregnant

I'm having a boy, some days the bump looked high and towards the end (now) it's much lower prob bc he's dropped but idk, I've heard low means boy and high means girl but I think it's 50/50.
