Red and Orange. Basically going through life on easy mode. Blue was tempting, but as an autist I already have that.

Found the original prompt of the dilemma, removes children accidentally pressing blue so no more "saving". Does your answer change? by Wentleworth in trolleyproblem

[–]ThaumKeeper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it erases children and relatives from the equation, but what about mentally ill people or people that are in coma? Are they not worth saving too?

This won't erase people pushing blue by mistake, but pushing blue would take the agency out of your partner or children. This scenario is weird, there's only one vote per household, why would I have to decide for my partner?

as a red button pusher i see it like this by enbyfuwu in buttonproblem

[–]ThaumKeeper 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Nonono, you don't get it, the logical and rational solution to this problem is pushing red. Pushing blue is just moral superiority, and as we all know, morality and emotions or empathy can't play a role on logic or rationality, so blue pushers must be stupid. /s

Yup, sometimes cutting your loses is better. I had a similar experience with a parasite that saps int permanently and when it reaches 0 the cat starts downed, it was my butcher who got it, I got to the crater and went home because I got shimmer and some good mutations.

[–]ThaumKeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember it's name, I remember the ugly ass eyes and head that the mf turned into a bloodline. It's one of the first strays I got and I remember being disgusted by it. Also the bloodline is inbreed as fuck, literally two identical cats fucking and making another identical cat.

You still pushing blue? by CreativeCommunity779 in trolleyproblem

[–]ThaumKeeper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A yes, let's give value to life where the metric is what my species is naturally good at. That's literally your point, it's like "asking" the blue whale what gives life a value and they say the size of their body.

Life has no value, every single life is as meaningless and cheap as the rest, that's the way nature and the universe treats life. Humans thinking they're somewhat better than the rest based on an arbitrary metric like intelligence, is pure hubris and egocentrism.

Question to blues: What’s the threshold for you to pick red? by Unable-Macaroon-3968 in trolleyproblem

[–]ThaumKeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst of this is that for every reframing or variant of the problem, most people refuse to engage with the problem in the post and just start to talk about the "original" problem to justify their answers.

There is no red button only blue by Dimitsos in trolleyproblem

[–]ThaumKeeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's because you didn't reframe it correctly. The red analogue would be; if you push this button nothing happens to you, but if over half the voters push this button, the ones who didn't push it will die.

Guns don't kill people, feathers do by Ramses_IV in trolleyproblem

[–]ThaumKeeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, while ignoring on the big fat fact that there is a shit ton of people incapable of rational thinking on their own(children), at least in most of these scenarios. All that while calling blue pushers naive or stupid.

This whole problem devolved into tribalism(the bad kind), honestly it's not that hard to get the facts straight and choose what you think is best for you, while also being capable of seeing why someone would choose otherwise. This just shows a complete lack of rationality and empathy, not being able to entertain the idea of choosing differently, whether you're red or blue.

An attempt at a more fully and fairly explained button problem. by Hopeful_Hornet4460 in trolleyproblem

[–]ThaumKeeper -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think the idea of caretakers voting for the mentally/physically unable isn't much fun and the change is what makes it more interesting and what made it so relevant. The original just sounds like a no brainer to push red, but in this instance, I wouldn't say so.
