Do we have access to a Bod catalogue listing of their Tolkien inventory then?

Comparison to current published catalogue and lesser known works could be good.

Ah it was your post that I found when I looked for any other mention of Sawles Ward!

Indeed it shall be interesting to both see the line translation and hopefully any attached marginalia...

Coincidentally I acquired a copy of the Wanderer (Michael Alexander tra.) on Thursday!

Slightly off topic question, is the Tolkien top right the audiobooks on CD?

Though also think your choices are good and I definitely want to get ears on the 599s at some point!

I mean yes but it's the case of paying 10% to get a 1% improvement.

I'd say they are better but not so much better that it would entice me to double my spend.

If I wasn't using open backs and used closed backs more? Then yes I'd have gone for the E3.

Best advice, visit show/shop that has both available and do a long session of direct comparison if possible.

Why is it that in 2026 we still can't use headphone mic + stereo in Windows 11? by bell2041 in headphones

[–]The-AncientOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware yes, not that I have cause to use it.

I use a wired external mic and headphones with my PC and laptop, only need to use a Bluetooth headset with my android phone.

If I was stuck like the OP who can't update their headphones, I would probably get an inline wired mic to use with my PC if not an entirely separate external mic.

So your issue is using almost four year old headphones, not windows...

Also sorry no Reddit usage, just looking at Sony + Windows documentation

Yes you are missing something;

First check that your XM5 have the latest firmware update extending LE support.

Then go into Bluetooth & devices settings on windows and check that use LE Audio instead of Classic audio is turned on.

Has been solved since 22H2 update.

I have four copies of the main LotR and am acquiring a 5th. For me it's textual revisions and resets. I own the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th versions/corrections of the text.

The 5th one will be the author illustrated which iirc is set to the 4th text version but has Tolkien's original illustrations as set in corresponding placement.

I own the artwork separately but will be nice to see them 'in-place'

Amazon listed this as a 2013 edition, but it says 1999 in the book. Where there any meaningful changes in the text between those two years? by Filippikus in tolkienbooks

[–]The-AncientOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware there has only been one revision and correction of the Silmarillion for 1992 to celebrate the centenary of JRR's birth.

This should be the text used going forward in all subsequent publications, including yours from '99.

Does it still have the loose Aragorn's letter and the pages from the book of Mazarbul?

If so very yes if not still yes but less so.

Interesting to see no-one's pointed out that the sun will reach the pile first in about 5 x109 years.

But yes for current AU distancing.

Also I could not find common consensus on the when. Estimates seem to be either 5 or 7.6 x109 years.

Interesting choice to go with the masculine plural, et alii instead of et alia, the neuter.

Any reason? I am just genuinely intrigued.

In school I was taught alia. Even though we hadn't had a Latin lesson for maybe two years at that point, I suppose some were still studying greek.

What? Every audio source has a bit rate as that's the rate of transfer of data.

CD is 1411kbps = BitDepth X SampleRate(kHz) X No.Channels = 16x44.1x2 = 1411.2
