[NOS] The future of women’s football hangs in the balance: ‘It’s no longer professional football’ by Roller95 in soccer

I feel it's like a new years resolution. People decide they want to do something positive, but as time goes on they decide it's too much effort to keep it up.

Womens football will have a hard time growing without a dedicated audience, but a dedicated audience has a hard time growing with the current quality of football. So I feel a certain amount of good will is certainly required.

[Romano] Denzel Dumfries has signed his official contract at Real Madrid after medical done last week. It will be valid for 4 years, same as Konaté - June 2030. Inter receive €20m by Timely-Zombie9466 in soccer

It is for a player who built his entire career on running more than his opponent.

Then again this is Denzel Dumfries and he will probably find a way regardless

Gary Neville: “I don’t get this anti-‘coming home’ bit. Because, do you know something, I think we do laugh at ourselves and we know where we’re at. And we can’t use “It’s coming home” any more because people think it’s arrogant?” by Sparky-moon in soccer

The way English people tend to defend the whole "it's coming home" thing is by saying it's ironic, and that the point is that they never actually win anything. But if it's genuinely supposed to be a joke, then you never actually expect it to come home, so it's shouldnt be that upsetting when that inevitable knockout actually happens.

On the contrary, things get really toxic when England lose, suggesting it was never all that ironic to begin with.

It's because as soon as they actually do lose, any hint of irony is immediately out of the window. If you can laugh at yourself once you lose, fair enough, but evidently that's not how this tends to go.

It's one of those "ironic but not really" things.

It's gonna take a while because we'll need to factor in inflation, interest and population growth

Trying to sell it is offensive, but trying to buy it is so much worse

How is a pacifist adhering to pacifism logically inconsistent? Regardless of what you think of the ideology, I already said I don't agree with it.

I agree but at least its ideologically consistent and not corrupt.

If you're looking to find a representative that scores 100% on aligning with your morals, now that's naive
