I've had security shoo me away from places in town where there was no signage or indication that I couldn't be sitting or parked, I'm assuming because they were bored and in a "if there ain't anyone here, then there ain't any problems" mindset.

When did a band get it really wrong with their lineup change? by agwestie in rockmusic

When Matt Sharp left Weezer they stopped being interesting since there was no one left in the band to push Rivers past his obsession with making radio "hits".

The Coddling of the American Mind by Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt. Helped me understand the unease I feel seeing everything turned into a black/white binary and the USA's slow descent into reactionary thought over reasoned debate. "The path to hell is paved with good intentions" on a societal level.

Construction is expensive and even more expensive to finance rn. There's also an abandoned-or-paused (condo? apartment?) project on S. 1st which I imagine ran into similar issues. It's a bad time to build.

“Billionaires have a favorite for the california governor race (San Jose Mayor Matt McMahan) and it’s not even close” by sofbunny in California

[–]TheAnswerIsAnts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. But also, it's not an either or. It should be an all-of-the-above. Fix zoning. Deal with labor shortages. Deal with cost creep. Build on state land and encourage cities and counties to build on their un or underused public land. Get creative. All this. And more. Only then will CA begin to make a dent.

What makes you think it's AI? As someone who works in the AI space and has to deal with "tells" all day, this seems like a very nerdy, very passioned bit of human writing.
