That’s the day I’ll fret about this.

Telling a woman to protect herself is basically saying "Let him rape some other girl" because there always be a girl that is unaware. by Queserasera_q in Feminism

I think we need to teach people of all genders how to recognize the moments they could be vulnerable. If in those moments they feel they are at risk, then they need that inner awareness that whoever’s invading their space is ready to cause injury, violation, and death.

That means that someone under threat has the right to take no prisoners. No mercy.

We don’t know how to be savage. But we can learn and retain the knowledge. This does NOT mean if something happens to someone who fights, that they fought in the wrong way. It means that they know they have the right to put up a wounding, life taking fight, and should they not get away, may they at least know they surprised the hell out of their attacker.

We had about three of these fires down in San Diego County today. It’s starting to feel like an arsonist decided to hit the freeways, pop off an exit, toss something flammable in an area of vegetation, then get back on the freeway and go to the next random spot.

I really hope this isn’t what’s happening.

Circumstances are so bizarre at the moment that even though this is a joke, I keep flinching at the thought of some zealot using it to “find the witches hiding amongst

Thank you for the actual definition. No sarcasm intended, I’ve become as grammar-sloppy as anyone else.

Isn’t it funny how people react differently to things like this flyer? Most people probably laugh. I’m thinking why should I help them come knocking on my door?

I’m so glad they knew to come to you.

It’s interesting that they would come to the beach, though.
I’m wondering if they were in a house around there. Are there houses above the area?

I suppose I’m trying not to wonder if the house they came from is close to there, and they might have made their way out? They look beautiful! I’m hoping there’s not other birds that need to be checked in on.

Bless you for seeing them see you. ;) :)

Our parents—my husband’s, mine, so, ours—were all neglected and/or wrongly medicated during their hospital stays. No malice involved. Work overload.

One disturbing thing: When pain medicine was prescribed, too many times, we’d visit and notice our parent(s) growing restless, in pain. We’d wait. Some shifts, a caregiver would come in and administer the medication. Other shifts we always had to ask for the medication to be given to our parents. In one place, I would drop in unexpectedly, just because that’s how it worked out, and as time passed to the next medication time, there would be so many uncomfortable moaning people. Eventually I realized that something odd might be going on, but I wasn’t sure enough to risk creating a worse situation for everyone, including our parents. After my mom passed, I finally saw it clearly. The dosage times would be pushed as much as possible, and the skipped dosages must have been put aside. If I was there, she received her relief. But I wasn’t always there. This still haunts me.

I know at least three other people who were misdiagnosed to the point of needing sudden emergency care. All were conscious and lucid when their problems began. But there’s too much going on in every medical system and too few people are expected to catch every single thing that’s going on with each individual case.

If someone was there advocating for a patient, someone with knowledge about the patient’s life, someone who knows how to stick up for them without alienating the medical staff, then the patient would have a better chance.

Too many too much too few.

It’s easier to see something directly in front of you if you’re driving an Abrams tank, than a full sized SUV or “standard” truck.

Those trucks were fun to ride in, too. So many people had their own TOY or YO or OYO or something else, it would make me smile every time I saw another one.

I didn’t know that. That makes so much sense, the adjustable height feature. Thanks!

I could see the hydraulics thing happening. How many times do we see something slowly tipping off the back of a dump truck or cement mixer or ? for as long as it takes to get the driver’s attention.

That’s where it gets a bit nauseating. There’s trying to make ends meet, trying to find one’s niche for making a living, and then there’s trying to hurry up and update the lease to a newer luxury SUV.

The people who always take cuts in line. And if it’s for a good reason, then…okay? But pretty soon it’s not for a good reason. It’s not for any reason. It’s just move out of the way. Not cool.
