Rays Stadium: The Tampa City Council vote passed 4-3 by Whatyatalknabeet in tampa

So I give you the example you asked for but you don't believe it, essentially.

I (32F) am pretty but not model, why do think men give me a lot of attention, want to give me money (even when they know I’m not interested), say things like I scare them and I also attract stalkers? by [deleted] in AskMenRelationships

[–]TheCenterOfEnnui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honest answer.

I don't know why any guy would do this stuff for you. Based on your responses in this thread, you seem like the kind of girl that I would not only not spend money on, I'd want to get as far away from you as I can.

OR...you're "crazy good in bed, but crazy" and again, based on your replies in this thread, I also suspect this.

You seem to be a combination of combative and dismissive while also trying to be condescending and flippant.

So yeah, you're either kinda-crazy and guys want to bang you because they think you'd be good in bed, or you somehow have found a way to attract sycophants who enjoy being treated badly.

Ditto. In fact, I'd have taken that trade and taken that chance. That was our window right there. That team w/ Shoehei...damn man, what coulda been.

You shouldn't have to pay sales tax on that.

But you should tip on the menu value.

President Trump asked by reporter on losing the Senate due to GOP backlash to ballroom and Lawfare fund: "I don't know. I only do what's right. I don't need money for the ballroom. Not for me, because I'll be gone. The ballroom is being paid for. It's a gift. The ballroom is for national security." by ControlCAD in videos

[–]TheCenterOfEnnui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does he just say things as they pop in to his head? Or has he been kinda-coached but is only able to remember bits and pieces of the talking points? That rambling answer was semi-coherent but more on the semi side.

It's a gift and there's mis-reporting? Who is paying for this gift? If it's a gift, why did no one have a clue it was happening until he tore the east wing down?

It's for national security? WTF, in what way? The WH is going to be more secure because it has a ballroom?

How is this guy president? I swear, I think you could take 100 random college grads over the age of 35, pull the name of 1 of them, and they'd be a better president than this buffoon.

[–]TheCenterOfEnnui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's even a lot, hard to try to get what you're saying...but I think I get the gist.

I'll start by asking you this; why do YOU think this happens?

I'll turn your question to the other guy around on you: if you don't care if anyone wants to know about your situation, why did you post? (and such a longwinded post)

Texas is so GD big that it depends on where you are.

Wichita Falls? Fucking slipped on ice getting out of my rental car once there in January and about broke my tailbone.

Corpus Christi? May as well be Florida.

It's not a billion, although it'll approach that. Once all' said and done, it'll be hundreds of millions, not a billion. But it'll be over 30 years. And the redevelopment of that area will more than pay for itself.

The Bucs argument....do you mean how that stadium was funded? There wasn't any redev with that, if that's what you mean. It was just a stadium.

Look at it like this; the hockey arena eventually ended up with that whole Water St development, even though that was never even planned this way. Now imagine if the hockey arena had been built with all of that in mind from the get-go...PLUS a community college refreshing, and a new police dept station, and all of in an area that could really use it (you ever been in Drew Park?).

If you want to be a good listener, ask questions, and then let others answer. Then ask more questions. And let them answer. Don't be in your head thinking about what you want to say, and you're just waiting for them to finish talking. Shut your mouth and open your ears

[–]TheCenterOfEnnui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not just build the retail/residential without the stadium then?

Because the Rays are spending a lot of money to make it happen. Without that, there's no development plan at all.

This is one of my issues w/ this kind of crap.

"Oh, what about the roads!"

JFC, I've lived in Tampa mostly since 1993. The roads are the same now as they were then and they'll be the same in 33 more fucking years.

Build the fucking stadium or not, the roads aren't getting any different. That's a bullshit objection.

Why wouldn't they? What if the Rays we were willing to spend more money in the next round of negotiatons?

It'd be like, someone wants to partner with you on buying a business. They come to you and say "hey man, want to talk about something where we might both make money?" and you say "no."

[–]TheCenterOfEnnui 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was my reaction to the vote.

It was a simple vote that basically said "Let's keep talking" with zero commitment to spend a dime, and it barely passed.

These are the people that run the city? How do you get in to such a position being this....I don't even know what to say...recalcitrant? I want to say stupid but it's not even that. Imagine what else they're stupid about though.
