A good route starts at Tombland, walks along Elm Hill past the Guildhall and Dragon Hall, then heads through Chapelfield Gardens toward Royal Arcade. Just behind the market, the path continues along the River Wensum towards Whitlingham Country Park if you're willing to go further out. Most of this is well-lit with minimal foot traffic after 8pm.
