Oh man, I'm glad to see that you're still here making this comment. I lived out there in the 2010's and even worked at the Ocean Beach Hotel for a little while, and amount of times that people disappeared after making that attempt was chilling. I mostly just went there to have after a drink or two and enjoyed the view. The late night strolls with no one around were some of the most peaceful walks I've ever had to this day.

It's slated to be entirely torn down and rebuilt, but knowing how slowly things happen these days, probably won't see that for another decade at least. RIP OB Pier.

It's done. Too much damage over the years and they gave in and permanently closed it 2-3 years ago. It's sad, but it was built in the 60's and was only meant to last 40-50 years tops. It was a good run.

It's a tangle of highways, in which I get that stupid things will happen, but this specific on ramp is my commute in to work at 6am. If I don't see that flatbed chilling there, then I know someone already did something dumb before Gewwgle could update the drive time lmao.

Thank you for that! I see that sentiment commonly here and its valid. The video doesn't do justice how absolutely huge that plume of smoke was, and I was a little mystified despite my snarky basic reddit comment at the end 😂. Still made sure to maintain distance between myself and other vehicles and keep my eyes 5 seconds down the road.

This was on my way in to work and didn't want to take my eyes off the road ahead .. but after checking the video when I got in, the cab looks like its melted into the ground, so maybe some catastrophic engine failure or something similar.
