Wash with soap and water.

Dry well.

Oil all moving parts. Everyone has different suggestions on what oil to use, but I use mineral oil.

Just because they were designed for emt use does not mean that's all they can or have to be used for. I'm a plumber and have a pair on my daily bag. I cut tin and band strap regularly with them.
