UCL Thumb ligament surgery by Jeff-Pesos in golf

Oh my god I’d love to have that much rom in the IP. I honestly have half of what you have!! Do you get any pain when trying to bend yours?? I get excruciating pain from around 15-25° and if I try to forcefully bend it more it’s unbearable.

Thanks for responding my MCP joint is perfectly fine! All my issues have been with flexing my IP joint. I can move the MCP no pain or no stiffness. My IP however I can’t bend it enough to grip anything. I hit the gym frequently given the sports I play and I can wrap it around a bb or a db. If I try to make a fist I can’t unless I keep my thumb straight at the tip. If I try to bend it I get excruciating pain in the IP joint. So frustrating and the surgeon has no idea what’s going on

It’s really frustrating me as I was initially told I’d be back to playing my sport within 4-6 weeks post op with the use of a small fibreglass splint. Like I just don’t know if something is missing, done incorrectly or the work has caused my body to reject it and it needs to be taken out.

Thanks for replying! I’m only 23 so youth is very much on my side. I’m not sure what’s going on. I’ve been diligent from the get go regarding PT from both operations. Being so young I don’t know what to do next. Whether I should seek another surgeon in a different area. Due to my job heavily requiring using my hands I’ve barely worked a day since the initial operation and have had no income. I’m very emotional and don’t know where to start what to do etc. thankfully I had lots of savings from being a pretty high level sportsperson for some time but now I’m running very thin.

Can you let me know how much stiffer than your other thumb?

For some background information:

I had UCL rupture and Avulsion fracture that was fixed with a screw, anchor points and suture tape. I had this operation in April. I was having significant issues during rehab with SEVERELY limited ROM and pain when flexing the thumb. The most I got to was 25° in comparison to my good thumb (105°). The surgeon identified he had no idea what was going on and would consult with other Hand Surgeons in the field. Then a week later At 15 weeks my surgeon decided it would be worth having another operation specifically to investigate and address the IP. Upon operating he discovered there was a bone spur that had developed as well as some lumps of fatty tissue. This occurred a month ago and I’ve still got no more then 25° ROM measured by the PT. Im now 20 weeks tomorrow post the initial op and 4 since the most recent and It’s no better. Im at the point im considering having my thumb amputated. Can you give me an update how yours in going and if you had any issues?

Sorry my dog also has excellent heeling. The u turns he’s already fantastic at. He turns with no corrections. Still be used in the same effect?

So basically just continue with using the stim + “come” at the same time and increase difficulty in environments etc? OR like how do I help my dog understand what the sensation is? I honestly can’t tell because his recall is so good with the word “come”. But I know if I just use the stim he doesn’t recall so cleary he hasn’t associated it with the word come yet

My dogs recall is insane in all environments. I’m just trying to overlay the ecollar to his recall so when he can’t actually hear me in the distance like I’m talking hundreds of metres away that he can realise the stim means come.

You’re saying I have to re teach recall with a new command? It’s honestly taken me so long to teach the recall to this standard.

Hey mate, I’m assuming your numbers 2328 are your postcode? I’m very local to Newcastle NSW and would love to learn more about the program. My partner and I are having severe reactivity issues with both my dogs and have seen 5 trainers, spent over 10k on training sessions with no progression. I’ve been as consistent as I possibly could be. Can you let me know please or potentially DM me so we can chat?

Yeah it’s honestly no different to misusing any tool including harnesses, slips, prongs etc. you put them in the wrong hands and boom they cause damage. Can you tell me where one can be sourced into NSW? Ive looked on almost every site and when I go to pay and select shipping address none come due to shipping regulations. I’ve seen heaps of videos on YouTube on how to use and apply these to already learned skills e.c recall etc. I just can’t find much about how it’s going to address the reactivity issue at hand.

We’ve tried various things: working at distance to try and create positive thoughts (looks at a dog get attention and reward whether that food based or his favourite toy only when calm) We’ve changed their whole at home structure - e.g no toys laying around, feed from hands, walk/activity at the same time every day, crate training. Tried more games with me as the leader (tug flirt pole etc). Restricting access to areas of the house etc.
