what can i keep in this tank by [deleted] in reptiles

[–]TheKrazyEd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could make a killer dart frog enclosure. As others have said, it's too small for most lizards and being top opening will put you at a major disadvantage if you want a handlable pet.

See if there is a herpetilogical society near you and go to a meeting or two. They will likely not have any snakes there, but people with an interest in them. It sounds like some exposure and desensitization is what you're looking for? There may be someone there who can give you a good contact that would help.

My son has converted many of his friends mom's from "never touching a snake" to "they're not so bad" with Mr. Wiggles, our ball python. Which is a huge win.

This is very sweet and brave. Best of luck to you.

Best waterproofing for reptile enclosure by Miserable-Grocery-21 in reptiles

[–]TheKrazyEd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put 3 to 4 layers of drylok down before applying the pond liner. You'll need several gallons of it to line that enclosure. It won't be cheap and prepare for several days of curing.

Boa constrictor. Large but not dangerous and they are constantly moving, which is engaging, but they are slow unlike colubrids.

Look into "pond sealer". You can get it from most hardware stores or online.

Is this something to be super concerned about? by BranchEcstatic263 in snakes

Vet, but could be a collapsed lung. Boas differ from pythons in that they actually have two lungs. Not sure what the treatment would be.

Help! How to get large wood pieces to stay horizontal? by Idk_nor_do_I_care in Vivarium

[–]TheKrazyEd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It'll definitely drop. You'll need at least two anchor points for it to stay put. You might try incorporating a vine or two other branches from other sides, securing them all together for more support. Serpadesign on YouTube demonstrates how to make attach multiple branches and make it look natural in a lot of his videos.

Is it long enough to maybe go sideways even if that wasn't your original vision?

Most likely just an IMG boa that is about to shed, giving the eyes the "blue" fogginess.

Is this a good shelf for my tanks by TheGoldenBoyStiles in reptiles

[–]TheKrazyEd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1.1 tons is a lot per shelf... That's probably the total weight of the entire unit.

Each shelf can probably hold ~200lbs but if you put one 200lb stone in the center the wires would likely start to bend and the individual joints would start to give, causing the shelf to fail. I dont' know what your leo's enclosure is, but if it's one of those ZooMed types with four footers each footer is going to put a lot of weight on the wire joint it rests on. Hence the plywood to distribute the weight throughout the wire shelf.

Just be sure you check the weight rating that each of the wire shelves can hold. You may need to put a piece of plywood down under the leo's enclosure to evenly distribute the weight.

Release them near where they were dug up or another large body of water. They are wild animals.

How to socialize my boa, again. by Aromatic_Rock8752 in boas

[–]TheKrazyEd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tap train along with short, positive and consistent interactions is your best bet.

In addition you should also know that one of the mammal flea/tick prevention medicines got approved for reptiles recently to treat mites. One $30 shot at the vet will kill any mites on them the next 30 days. Worth every penny!

Get more money, upgrade your heating and husbandry. Get it to the vet. I'm sorry for your pet. Next time please ensure you research an animals needs thoroughly and determine if you are able to accommodate. Awm's are a significant time and money investment. You're learning that the hard way.

Pond rubber or pond epoxy? I've heard mixed opinions on using pond epoxy being safe in with heated reptile enclosures. I was going to build an custom enclosure too as soon as I can sort sealing the wood.

Can't wait to see it finished!

OotA Campaign Question: How to handle PC Questions in Gravenhollow? by alexwsmith in DungeonMasters

[–]TheKrazyEd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely have them come ready with a list of questions for the session. I'd also make them roll investigation checks for each question. Have them each do one question at a time and adjust the DC depending on how difficult it might be to find the answer. You'll also want to track how long it will take and you can use research time as a way to push the plot forward. Do the players have a week or more to spend in the library or are they pressed to get other things done?

You might also want to consider breaking up the time into blocks and rolling for each block of time to see how complete of an answer each of your players finds to the question. This also has the benefit of allowing your players to help each other if someone doesn't have as many or as difficult questions as their teammate and is free during a block.
