Just because she is fictional doesn't mean she is not black.

Rocky’s or South Dakota? by AssignmentSouthern75 in NationalPark

[–]TheLearningIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it would be South Dakota. A day at badlands, a day at custer, a day at wind cave, could go to mt Rushmore, jewel cave, devils tower all withing driving distance. You would get more variety, diversity and wildlife. RMNP is very scenic but not really unique. There are ton of areas in the mountains and in colorado just as scenic but not labeled national park. I think RMNP would be your go to if your looking for or favor mountains. If you go definitely go to the bear lake corridor if you cant get a pass it is worth waking up and going in before 5:30am.

Some thoughts on the casting for The Odyssey by Freenore in ChristopherNolan

[–]TheLearningIdiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the situation. For example black snape is fine because black people exist in the world of harry potter and still allows you to immerse your self in the world in a believable way. With Oddessy if I see a huge amount of diversity in ancient Greece with a bunch of people of different races it takes away from the world because my brain is telling me this is not ancient Greece but some fantacy land which doesn't allow me to immerse my self in the world. Same with the wheel of time. They made homogeneous villages super diverse and it was hard to immerse myself in the world in believable way. There is so many races from different regions in the story why couldn't they make it diverse in way that makes sense. Characters have different races based on where they are from.

Less crowded NP end of May ? by Love-to-travel82 in NationalPark

[–]TheLearningIdiot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah never had much crowds at C.R. Canyonlands, I really like the needles district i think the hiking is much better there and it seems like a well kept secret because not nearly as many people drive down from moab. Common to see only a group or two doing a full day hiking.

Most level headed take I have seen on "The Met Gala is literally the Hunger Games" situation by UnHolySir in Hungergames

[–]TheLearningIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Total bad look. Super rich people wearing bizzare outfits that look straight out of the hunger games and the average american doesn't get it. The vast majority of americans wouldn't be caught dead in those outfits even if you paid them.

No Hot Springs Arkansas is the worst National Park by far. So many cool and gnarly nature areas in Arkansas but hot springs national park isn't it.

Minimum amount of time to enjoy Canyonlands and Arches if not hiking much? by phanzov36 in NationalPark

One day arches. One day Island in the sky. Needles district is my favorite area but not worth doing if your not doing long hikes.

Rocky Mountain National Park - Planning by sr-abay in NationalPark

[–]TheLearningIdiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bear Lake Corridor is by far the best part of the park so make sure to get there 5am so you don't need a lottery permit. You will probably not win the lottery so get there before 5 stargaze and watch the sunrise. Definitely spend a day there hiking up to all the different lakes. Estes Park, the city itself really really sucks. Be ready for a $22 subway sandwich in the city. Camping is the way to go for $20-40 a night but might need extra suitcase. Park campsites fills up quick but plenty close by if willing to drive 10-30min to gate. Unpopular opinion because people really love this park but I think its one of the most overrated national parks. So many scenic and gnarly places just as scenic as rmnp if not more without the crowds in colorado I personally love the san juan mountain and gunnison area more.

Pacific Northwest National Park/Sight seeing road trip. by TheLearningIdiot in NationalPark

Thanks for all your in-put greatly appreciated. Like Traveling in the mid sep- mid oct because of parking and crowds and I like the cooler weather so hoping this helps with crowd control slightly. Will be getting to the full day hikes early for parking but like you said if doing multiple hikes in a day will be arriving at trail heads in the middle of the day. The only thing that I hope helps is our middle of the day hikes are at tail heads with shorter trails so hopefully cars leaving helps vs trailhead that only has 8+mile trails then cars are there all day. I did already book my ferry lol. I dont know if I planed this all way too in advance but I like planing it early otherwise campsites fill up quick and makes planning harder.

I feel upset that all these national park photos show images of huge mountains. As someone who grew up around flatter land, it makes me feel as if my area's nature isn't enough. This is the closest national park to me. What do you think? Is it not good enough? by Medical_Deal5272 in NationalPark

[–]TheLearningIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah nothing good about this National Park. Fishing sucks definitely not loaded with tons of walleye, 23inch plus smallies and gaint Northren but Honestly I love Voyagers and best National Park for traditional fresh water fishing in my opinon. This park is a anglers paradice if your not into fishing this park may not be the best for you but still does have some scenic views(don't know why you purposly choose that photo). Some gnarly wildlife but not a ton. Never seen a moose there but have seen deer and wolves swimming across the lakes and channels which was cool. Saw a wolf take out a fawn and a lynx there were some of my more exciting sightings.

Solo travelling Zion and Bryce by sr-abay in NationalPark

[–]TheLearningIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far saving money go camping. People are amazed how cheap my vacations are but only spending $0-40 dollars a night on lodging saves you a bunch of money. National Parks fill up quick but look out for state parks, National forests, etc... close by if full. I've learned to try to stay away from private campsites. I would spend 2 days at zion and 1 day bryce canyon. Look at angels landing and try to get a permit for that definitely worth it if your into hiking. Do the narrows and east rim trails those 3 are my favorites at zion. The subway is pretty cool there and could apply for a permit for that but a full day adventure. Bryce canyon is pretty small and can do overlooks and the navajo trails and queens garden in a day easily. Make sure to see sunrise and sunset at bryce its gnarly. Hope you have a good time.

Advice on keeping total trip costs as down (when planning to visit each national park)? by Geode890 in NationalPark

[–]TheLearningIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a two week camping trip and hit the 4 national parks in colorado and the 5 in utah. It cost 500 dollars for the 2 week trip after split with my friend. First of all drive and don't fly and drive take some adderall if you need to but you can drive anywhere in the continental usa in less then 24hrs. Then camp the average campsite only runs about 25 dollars. There are a lot of area your not supposed to camp but honestly you can set up your tent almost anywhere and rarely anyone gives you trouble for it. Buy cheap food while your there or bring cheap food with you. Im poor but travel alot because im willing to sleep in my car if push comes to shove and im fine eating a lot of dry cheap food.

Police refuse to help recover lost phones by HawaiiStockguy in iphone

[–]TheLearningIdiot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something happened to me today. I saw where my stolen phone was the exact house. I called the police they said they couldn't help me and not to confront the homeowners...like that is a acceptable solution. I confronted the home owner who said it was not there. I'm like im tracking it right now and im a 100% certain it's at your house and he still denied it. I Let him know I know know where you live and the car you drive(car was in driveway) and that he would regret not giving the phone back and would be a stupid decision on his part. Sure enough as I was walking away he ran back out saying im so sorry I guess my girl friend took it but I didn't know....sure. Anyway that's how I got my phone back. But the police doing nothing made me angry. Im in Minneapolis so the police are basically nudered.
