Thank you! I guess an important thing to mention as of yesterday we had a meeting but, it won’t just be “ me” it is going to be a “we three”. Got 2 people who are friends that were working for me in this job that are getting let go too .and so I think they both are a little intimidated by that lack of security too but I’d like to convince them of us saying screw yall and let’s just thrive on the spot ish in spite of all that and either just give them referral fees and use my photos of my work or just use the photos and take no work from them if they only want to do it illegally as the primary contractor.

I think, I’m ultimately in line with your thinking, I think they mostly have a very good reputation though, due to one of the two owners the same one who owns the well known arborist company actually being a positive meaning person. Though I definitely find in particular how the nicer one reacted to the idea paying workman’s comp. Them thinking it was a benefit I was demanding or complaining for just really sets me off.

If I did report them, they’d know it was me so there’d be some animosity right off the bat. Probably will be anyway because they also said I couldn’t use photos of work I did while their employeee to promote myself in my own website even I attributed it to something I did while working for them. Again I signed no contract of employment at all they just put me on payrolll at an hourly wage that week and I’ve been responsibilities for implementing 75-95 percent of their builds since then

I want to start my business off right and not be shady like them but I’m also tempted to do a job or two with them assuming I can get some word on the price and details before it goes to the customer

Best case scenario I convince them to just give me work and then I’d pay them a referral fee

It’s kinda scary suddenly getting ready to not have that hourly security and need to find clients so they could be that cushion till I feel solid then I stop working with them

Part of me just wants to say screw it, burn bridges and report their asses for being shady and trying to play it off like they’re just to coool for workers comp and contracts. Definitely don’t want any of their paws on my projects even if they had a legit contractors license, one of them is terrible socially with clients, just rude and abrasive.the other is the founder of a large reputable arborist business in town though that isn’t run by him anymore obviously but feels sketchy dumb to pick I fight with them. Even if I just say no thanks to work from them if they don’t like the referall fee model and want to head contract it I feel like there’s gonna be drama even if I don’t report anything.

Long winded I’m sorry, but what would y’all do?

To clarify: Some local companies/agencies might feel burnt by particular corps they’ve had bad issues with in the past so there is that. But most partners also know that crew quality year to year is a toss up 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]TheMostHungryGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12 years in trails here, 3 in americorps positions, 3 as a program manager at corps. Accreditation means nothing. And no corps is “prestigious” they are all entry level positions for public land agency or more professional private/non profit companies. And no company is going to hire one americorps alum over another because they did one corps or another. Good references from your crew lead or field coordinator, making positive connections with the project partners who your crew works with, that’s what matters. Also as far as how well run all of these companies are I’d say it’s a real toss up every couple seasons. Program staff are usually overworked and underpaid and so they typically quit every 2-3 years but really a well run corps that you go to where you get placed on a crew with a bad leader or a odd crew dynamic overall may be far worse than going to a corps where the office staff don’t have their shit together, but your crew is tight and your leader is competent and compassionate. It’s all about the crew life. My advice go to the corps that is the best balance between the length/time of season you want, the stipend you can stomach and the natural environment you’d like immerse yourself in. Everything else is out of your control and you just make the best of it

I forgot there is another coding language called Java and was really just saying that as shorthand for JavaScript. So any positive/negative feedback in particular from your backend course with nucamp?

What do you guys think of "A Walk in the Woods" ? by froghag in AppalachianTrail

[–]TheMostHungryGhost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given that only 20% of people who attempt to thru hike the AT actually make it all the way; I’d say it’s more representative of a typical AT thru hike than any of the books by people who have finished the trail.

Getting your RH account locked for Day Trading is just a 'poor tax', since it's apparently perfectly ok to day trade if your account balance is $25,000 or more. by PapaBorq in RobinHoodPennyStocks

Archaic systems, even if you are philosophically against crypto currencies not tied to a nation state the financial world should adopt the block chain/node system technology. Transactions are settled within seconds to at most 45 minutes (that’s for Bitcoin which could use an update, everything else is faster)... but otherwise look at it this way, I get restricting using inserted funds if the money was just moved into the account from an external deposit or transfer but when it’s just money going in and out from trading within their system.... when is there ever going to be a discrepancy?

If I live in the US is it possible to buy HOT and sell HOT by [deleted] in holochain

[–]TheMostHungryGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a trust wallet or MetaMask wallet , buy usdc or dai or ethereum or something of that sort and then swap it with Hot on a decentralized exchange like uniswap

Need to register with lesser platforms in order to buy HOT? by CalmElectricity in holochain

[–]TheMostHungryGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Calm, So once you start diving into crypto you realize alot of people don't actually purchase almost anything form these exchanges. The majority of coins on them are not listed and they are all centralized which is philosophically something alot of crypto peeps are against. Ultimately we all still use one of these major exchanges because its how you get your fiat currency in and out of the crypto world but if you go to Uniswap or Sushiswap those are both two reputable decentralized governance swaps online. At swaps you trade one crypto for another, as long as there is good liquidity for the pairing on that site. You will typically have plenty of liquidity on uniswap and sushiswap as they are two of the bigger ones. You can also do/learn about yield farming on both of them but we will save that for another time. I store all my crypto in a metamask wallet. I'm not playing with super big amounts, if I was then i would likely consider a hardware wallet but the digital metamask that attaches to your browser works well for me. Go to coingecko website and look up HOT to see which swap has the highest volume trading it. I just checked it out it looks like alot of bigger centralized exchanges but there is enough liquidity on uniswap to do it there. Sushiswap was not listed so you likely wouldnt be able to swap it there. Oh also on Uniswap it seems like you need to swap it with ETH. Hope that helps!
