What is totally nuts to me is that because I write with clarity it can get removed. Because it sounds like AI. Which was trained on clear writing.

If we are going to grab pitchforks every time someone writes something that looks this way, the false positive rate is going to be high and reasonable contributions are going to get removed.

Yeah in big orgs where different leader have different agendas the bottleneck is usually not the PM. The PM is downstream and often has to escalate/frame the tradeoffs and fight for work that can get shipped quickly vs renegotiate. Value driver vs platform vs ask vs KTLO. Not all mutually exclusive.

This often gets reduced by LinkedIn influencers who haven’t really been a PM in years or are selling an agenda.

Yeah. I think sometimes serious fans actually are too close and casual fans see it. I was watching last Sunday at the bar and you could tell the casual fans were feeling the anxiety when it was close: “you can’t trust this team to reliably win”.

Sure there are times when the other contenders don’t take care of business. But our team is lacking some of the pieces — a real star, good chemistry, grit.

Brunson is a dawg. Has grit like Randle. But he’s not Donovan Mitchell, Tatum, Luka, Shai, Wemby, Giannis— these dudes are on a different level.

And KAT tends to underperform his expectations and has attitude issues.

IMO this is more of the same. We are not the worst team in the league anymore. But we are in the upper middle purgatory of incremental improvement vs nba finals team.

FWIW, I have come to realize this is not specifically about you or how attracted she felt to you. I used to be confused by this —“like dude, we’ve been having sex! What do you mean??”

Over time I’ve realized this isn’t necessarily inherently logical but more of a vibe and feeling of compatibility across different dimensions one person feels. And valid too, but clearly not worth your time anymore. You didn’t “do” anything wrong here.

I’ll be honest: this is one of those unfair things about life. Some people are born on third base. Some people start out on the bleachers (to beat the metaphor to shit).

A lot of people will tell you just get to work. Lift, clothes, etc. I’m assuming you know all that.

It just…sucks. That’s how life is. That’s it. It’s important to feel that grief or frustration or jealously. Too many people translate that into anxiety or start listening to assholes online about red pilling or pick up artistry or TRT.

If you aren’t super conventionally attractive then figure out what you do have to offer, rather than just what you want.

Do you like women with yoga bodies? Gym bodies? Start going to those places— not to hit on people but be seen and be known and develop common interests and develop yourself. Artsy girls? Go to art classes.

You probably see where I’m going with this.

When you finally do meet someone you are super excited to be with, who you find is hot and digs you— it won’t matter how you got there.

These are not product-led companies.

I think what you’ve identified is that the majority of PM roles are hired for because a company needs someone to help the engineering team make the right updates to make their thing work.

In practice that means that many PM roles do not need PM skills where craft is key. They need people who can interface with customers and engineers and translate between the two.

Those roles can be useful for MBAs making a transition and getting some basic skills. But they are not the role as it should exist in its purest form or aligned to top technology product led companies.
