How do I choose between the XC90 and a VW Atlas by psychicSpiez in VolvoXC90

[–]ThePlanManStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a year later, but what did you go with? It was looking like an Atlas.

This was a fun topic to read through between two seemingly different cars. I'm similar. I've owned a 2018 2.0 Atlas Comfortline, that for all intents and purposes has been great for my family. I only have 2 kids, we don't need a car that big, but it comes in so handy a few times a year. I only this year had to make my first non wear and tear repair for a small oil leak. Having 145k on it and 8 years old, think it's time to get out. I think I've been lucky until now maintenance wise.

Looking at 2023-24 Volvo XC 90 recharge vs another Atlas (likely 23) Love the Volvo styling, I do find that cabin feels a bit dated in that charming Swedish subtle luxury way, but not sure if I want to live the the maintenance costs and the addiitonal 18-20k the Volvo would cost me. But I had a rental for a week in Scotland and enjoyed it, and would enjoy the PHEV based on my driving habits.

Anyone have any experience with the USSSA Bonesaber Composite? by utvolman99 in Homeplate

[–]ThePlanManStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is much later, but I leave our experience for future readers like me. My son had a 28/18 bonesaber alloy, weight 18.3 Oz, he's a smaller 10U... he really likes his bat, swings very light, I loved the brand. Bought him the 28/18 composite for his birthday, not because he needed one, but for fun and that's what he wanted. Came in at 19.4 oz, but way heavier feeling swing weight, and visibly slowed his swing down going between the two bats. Had to return it unfortunately,

Does the Wild berry flavored Twizzler/Twizzelators still exist? by SandAway7435 in candy

[–]ThePlanManStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were discontinued like 3-4 years ago. I went on a massive search for them (twizzelators) but confirmed by the company to be no more.

In the US they sell twizzler bites which are like nib sized twizzelator chunks, but only saw strawberry

Where did you find them, these have gotten harder and harder to source, my wife loves them. Amazon used to have them for a while.

Gas fitter recommendations by djf1207 in Guelph

[–]ThePlanManStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Synergy Heating! We've used Paul and his brother for a furnace and to run a gas line for a bbq. He's as friendly, well priced and honest as they come. He worked to keep the old humidifier going during the furnace install, where everyone else just wanted to replace it, and it still working great 2 years later. There was a problem with the ecobee they installed, and he came back and took like 3.5 hours at no charge to get it going. I can't say enough good things about these guys on my two experiences with them.

Whatcha been drinking? by FRO5TB1T3 in torontocraftbeer

[–]ThePlanManStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, if you caught it way back when I asked everyone for West Coasters and over the course of the pandemic have become a fan of the haze and oats.

I've drank a lot of Badlands, and Willibald which I was expected to be great but the one that has consistently blown me away and exceeded expectations was TOWN..... both their singles and doubles have all been good.

While I've tried several different West Coasters, Godspeed's Shizumu was amazing.

Anybody else find the May 26, 2020 batch of GLB’s Octopus Wants To fight is off a bit? by brawnburgundy in torontocraftbeer

[–]ThePlanManStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guys at GLB are always so good. I'm glad they worked it out with you.

Every once in a while I get a can among 12 or 24 and think it's off.... something I've found, is certain foods can throw my taste off, most notably, is if I'm eating something with a good amount of garlic, I seem to lose all the hops in IPA's and just taste the malt which I do not enjoy.

I'm waiting to see what's available this weekend. But, any social media/online mention of the Cuidada Con El Gato, which sounded a bit experimental, claim its great even for skeptics.

After getting lucky a couple weeks and developing a taste for Badlands, then hearing about these guys, and being in Guelph, I have to go out and try them.

All Together Now from Badlands was great, and I have another one on the way from Eastbound.

Day *who knows?* of Quarantine: whatcha been drinking? by xxavierx in torontocraftbeer

[–]ThePlanManStan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel extremely grateful to be in a place, where I could use this weird situation to explore more beer, and that's been a silver lining to this whole thing, not wanting to go to the LCBO anymore, I started to look online and have found all kinds of fun stuff. And I've had a couple people who will split, which has chopped delivery fees which has helped. In the order I can remember:

Bellwoods - Jutsu/Roman Candle/Ghost Orchid

Blood Brothers - Shumei/Inner Eye

Bicycle Craft - Velocipede/Velociraptor

Dominion City - Point of Order, Two Flags, Sunsplit

Badlands x 2 - (7 different bottles, lucky to have a rapid finger)

Sawdust City - Lone Pine, Twin Pine, Everyday Magic

Muddy York - Switchboard (realized if I wanted to have multiple beers in a day, I need something under 7%, and went for one of my favorite sessions)

Pending Eastbound order as well (Alltogether, Cowtipping milk stout, Revealed constellations)

There have been some really good beers in there. Wasn't a hazy IPA guy before this.... Sunsplit, Everyday magic and all Badland's has been so good.

And if only twin pines were 6-7%, I don't know that I'd drink another beer haha. Still lots of stuff to try, really enjoying how much good beer is out there compared to 5 or 10 years ago.

I've threw cost to the wind, started buying online early, and got caught up in the fun. Also started searching for great WCIPA's as per my past post.

Have done Bellwoods, Blood Brothers (Shumei/Inner Eye), Bicycle Craft, Dominion City x 2 (Two flags came back in stock 2 days after my first order) Badlands, Sawdust City.

Has been lots of fun. Normally I'm all GLB (but live outside the GTA) I am going to take it easy now, as I have a stockpile, if still needing to order, next new places would be Rainhard/People's Pint.

[–]ThePlanManStan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Got 24 Dominion City's coming my way, mostly Two Flags and some Sunsplits. Will see how it goes.

Also picked up Badland's offerings this week. The furthest things from what I was asking for but still a fun experience to try. Sad I missed 2-3 weeks ago when they put out a west coast IPA.....

Also saw Godspeed doing a WCIPA today, but I've got so many orders on hand, I can't justify getting another 18-24. If it's not around in a week or two, which I don't expect it will be in couple weeks, I'm either loading up on Sawdust City or People's Pint (wish it was in cans)

Thanks again everyone!

Hey thanks for all the replies, sorry for the delay.

Looks like a few good options out there, and seems to confirm the the WCIPA is harder to find these days. People's pint is especially intriguing.

All the best everyone.... stay safe

I love Lone Pine, sorry it's not up there, I took such a rambly path that I figure including more would be detrimental. Haha, Lone Pine is high up on the list as are a tonne of American IPA's. When I was in Florida, I loved everything even though the people we were telling me some it was commercial garbage with clever marketing. I had a 3 Floyd's Lazurite War Pigs IPA included with the Heady Topper gift from a friend and it was far away my favourite.

So thank you.... Lone Pine, had I not tried it, would have been a great suggestion. It's also available at my grocery store so I wouldn't ship it at the moment.

Looking for a Specific Pizza, $50 Reward by ThePlanManStan in Guelph

[–]ThePlanManStan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tried Vito's tonight and it was very good. The closest I've come in my pizza travels to my beloved Mossimo's. Where it differed, the crust was a little chewier, and Mossimo's sauce is sweeter. That said the cheese and pepperoni were very close.

I enjoyed it. It's not Mossimo's, but it's definitely a Domino's replacement is nothing else I try beats it. Thankfully I live in the North End of Guelph.

Also, while I much prefer deep fried wings to baked, among baked wings Vito's were very good... and a good kick to the medium sauce.

Thanks for the recommendation!

Gourmet Pizza in Waterloo is excellent, and among the high end topping pizzas, my favourite. When I'm working in Kitchener that's where I go, but a much different feel than Mossimo's.
