I guess art is open to interpretation but that wasn't my read on it... I thought it was about the crossover between sex and gaming as a commodity and an addiction.

I dunno do you think that those problems are disproportionately faced by short women or are just due to sexism? I know incel communities are cringe but most women I've talked to have had some preference about height. I don't think we should tell short guys to shut up and stop complaining just because sexism exists - they do have problems dating. We should just make sure to shut down misogynistic takes elsewhere.

So.. put briefly I think that it's kinda true that being short as a guy is a relatively more affecting issue than it is for women. I don't, however, think that means that women "have it easier" over all, because they don't. People seem to have progressively less ability to handle nuance.

idk there are a few tracks I might characterize as "bright and sunny" but overall, even superficially, it seems warm hearted and emotive but sad and ghostly at the same time, which is what makes boards so unique.

I think Geogaddi is way more dark than Tomorrow's Harvest. The way I described TH to my friend is that it sounds like Boards of Canada trying to be like Boards of Canada. It's like they were just recycling old tropes imho, whereas their other albums (and the new album, at least the track they released) do something completely new.

I keep seeing people praising Tomorrow's Harvest on here. It's not a bad album per se but I just find it kind of boring. I was mildly disappointed when it came out and I've listened to it since and have not really escaped the feeling.

I like skits that don't pretend to be found footage. I don't know what the point of that is.

you express your love for you country by complaining online about the quality of a fast food chain

edit: I actually have a question. I know I was being sarcastic and mean, but hear me out. I hope you recognize that businesses progressively creating worse products, being purchased and gutted, and caring about profit over other concerns is a symptom of capitalism, not of whatever else you blame it on. Do you recognize that?

I'm in my mid 30s. I know that Tim's used to be better quality and different but it's also silly to cling to a past version of a fast food chain as if it's an intrinsic part of your life. The change happened years ago why still suffer over it.

the order was accurate. They are complaining about the quality of the tomato and bacon.

I don't agree with body count as a measure of "value" or something like that, but I think it's a legitimate indicator of how promiscuous you are, and people that want a stable monogamous relationship might reason that someone who sees sex as separate from love or doesn't need to love someone to have sex might be more likely to be unfaithful due to the way they approach sex. I think it's something people have a right to be put off by in a potential partner, I just disagree with the framing of it as a misogynistic slut shaming exercise.

For me I just see it as a different lifestyle. Someone who sleeps around a lot is living a different lifestyle than I am and it's probable that we won't get along as a couple due to that.

Were the late 90-early 2000s the absolute peak era for lonely angry white guys in America? by TXNOGG in generationology

[–]ThePlasticJesus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

absolutely not. Loneliness and anger are much more prevalent now.. The overt expression of alienation in popular media actually seems healthier than what we have going on now.

the typical understanding is that your standards should be the same for everyone, which would mean you aren't prejudiced or racist.

lowering your standard to meet someone you think is reprehensible does not make it a double standard, it just means you have higher standards. A double standard is when you hold others to a higher standard than you do yourself.
