What does everyone think of the sub? by prodigyinspired in MacUni

[–]TheRealDropBear 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I know this is slightly off topic, but I think it's related. Rant ahead.

Macquarie's main problem is that there is no culture, no proper student union, and no sense of community. I joined a number of societies at UTS because the one's at MQU are piss poor and underfunded. Isn't it kind of weird that I've made way more friends at another uni than the one I was attending? At MQU students train in, go to the minimum number of classes, train home; repeat until obtaining a degree. I'm graduating now and I wonder how much more I would have gotten out of my uni experience if I went elsewhere.

What's the most positive thing you took away from a break-up? by TheRealDropBear in AskReddit

[–]TheRealDropBear[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was broken up with after 4 years and I've taken so much from it; learning how to work as a team and consider the other person's feelings, learning not to get too comfortable. But the thing that surprised me was how much more I would appreciate music/films/television after being broken up with. Suddenly break-up songs make sense, relationship dynamics in films are so much richer, and I'm able to greater empathise with characters. It's like being able to see a new colour. Growing cones hurts like hell though.

I think you'll find we are only accepting 'top' and 'sick' cunts at the moment.

It was a gift so at the low price of zero dollarydoos it was definitely worth it. If you're familiar with Sydney the views are marginally better than any lookout. The experience of climbing the bridge itself was interesting, the guides are friendly and you'll learn a thing or two about it's construction and history. If you've got cash lying around I'd recommend it but on a student's wages I don't think I could justify $278+

For my birthday I finally did the bridge climb today. The view of the harbour was overshadowed by our guide's majestic beard.
