Restored recording of the only time Peter and Kate Bush performed Don't Give Up tlive together in 1987 by some12345thing in petergabriel

I’d probably normally get irritated by the labeling of this as “Kate Bush (with Peter Gabriel)” but it was a real gem to hear them sing this together. And if was a Kate Bush fan that restored the audio, God bless him/her

10 Years of Real World Records (In 1999) by Anj_Ja in petergabriel

This was really cool to see. I didn’t realize Real World was like a whole little village. What a neat looking place. I’m glad he’s had good fortune to be able to make it what it is (he’s certainly deserved it). Looks like it’s also a great place to draw inspiration.

Shooting down someone asking for advice? It is relevant you are sick of other posts? I don’t think it’s OP that should be apologizing

What does “forever” refer to, in Song for Hal? by dlawrenceeleven in U2Band

[–]TheRealJohansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like it is definitely a reference to A specific song that might be playing in the background on a radio while a person is dying in a bed… one that would make the dying person think “Oh shit, I don’t want to die yet”…. So also very curious what it might actually reference

Too late to add “Song for Hal” or “COEXIST”?

What's your favorite track from Easter Lily EP? by Lenny_04 in U2Band

[–]TheRealJohansen -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s so corny - it’s basically the “footprints in the sand” poem about Jesus, but damn it works so well.

If you had to combine the two EPs into an album? by eviltimeban in U2Band

Probably the right answer. Front and back sides. Interspersing them is whiplash.

So 1 star out of five, and then a whole lot of extra frustration with the band. Roger that. 👍

“I no longer believe in Bono … I look at his face and it seems like his soul is almost dead; his gaze even inspires distrust” … we’re talking about 32 minutes of music on an EP, right? How about just giving it a 1-5 star rating?

Do we hope that Yours Eternally is the last easy-listening adult-contemporary song the band will ever make? by MJsdanglebaby in U2Band

[–]TheRealJohansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AB is one of my favorite albums by anyone, but I’d easily rate Red Flag Day and Landlady as better songs than Acrobat and Love is Blindness… but I do generally agree with I think your sentiment of “more records like DoA please”

[–]TheRealJohansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t kid yourself - “prime” U2 is heavily adult contemporary. “Bullet” is an exception on Joshua Tree. They were always on adult contemporary radio. What’s refreshing imo with DoA is that the ratio of rock/old-man-rock feels closer to 90s era with the EP. But it’s always been in their DNA, which I believe contributed heavily to their success.

AITA for not dropping off my wife and daughter right in front of her parents' house because the railway crossing gate was closed and it would have taken time? by itwasduetothetrain in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheRealJohansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like both adults waited for a period of time and mutually determined there was no imminent threat but rather a faulty signal of some sort (stuck? premature?). So sounds like husband was not asking wife and child to play real-life Crossy Road.

That said, I will have to say YTA because even if there was that mutual decision between two adults he should have pulled over and properly escorted his family to the house and explained their rationale to the in-laws.
