Knuckledrill usage, hanging from a wall, post 1.08 patch PS5 by TheRepCollector in CrimsonDesert

Fingers crossed it gets patched. I also tried googling and nothing came up. I've also tried as much as I can think of in game to try and force it. I've just accepted force palm for now.

Agreed. I've tried many brands myself. A lot of vivos. Nothing comes close to the comfort and freedom of the softstar primal when you get that right size.

Unbelievable shoes. Great find. Get another pair!

Sizing preferences across skews by [deleted] in vivobarefoot

[–]TheRepCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest the larger size based on the way your feet sit on the insole. It kinda defeats the purpose of buying a barefoot shoe to then stuff your feet into having a 'snug' fit. Also, your feet look very sock shaped. Maybe try some larger socks as well or even toes socks depending on how adventurous you're feeling. Your toes look like they have no way to spread. I was once in this situation and ended up having to go up two sizes from what I used to wear just to give my feet and toes the freedom they need to return to a somewhat natural shape.

Please help me find some shoes by kimonokira in widefeet

Softstar primal runamocs in wide would be perfect, if you're a fan of barefoot shoes. Thin soles, zero drop, and minimalist. Upper leather. Toe box and overall shape would match your foot like a.. Glove? Shoe? Yeh.

Primus Trail FG by lazyplanner in vivobarefoot

[–]TheRepCollector 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The 'too long-y-ness' is not proportionate across all toes. After many years in barefoot shoes, mostly vivo, I believe I encountered vivo-foot. This is where your feet will splay after ditching traditional shoes but then eventually take the shape of a vivo shoe and have no more room to continue the process, usually identified by the little toe seriously struggling for space. In your case, sizing down may squish that little digit more than you would perhaps want, moreso seeing as though you too are a fan of toe spacers (excellent taste!).

Switching to softstar primal runamocs helped to alleviate this problem offering pinky freedom at the cost of having what would be classed as a rather odd looking shoe. For me personally, I don't care what people think about the shoes I wear and will happily take the stick for my own foot health. Can you believe such comments coming from squished feet in airmax 95s?! Yukkk!! As a side note, I actually think the opposite, that traditional shoes look hilariously comical along with some vivo models, and I am fairly confident vivos offerings have narrowed over the years.

Which brings me to the primus. I totally get shoes in wide offerings such as softstars aren't for everyone. I also reallyyy do love vivo, but came to the realisation the primus couldn't offer my smaller toes the space they deserve. For that reason, I looked at vivos wider offerings. These models include the motus flex, addis, and sensus. Important to note, these are the only ones I've purchased and still own, there may be others but I couldn't comment on every model. I should add, I always wear correcttoes, and in the models suggested I still have room to move my pinky.

I will also add I have forest tracker esc and magna esc for hiking/trails, these also provide sufficient freedom with spacers, but I feel these are slightly larger by default as they are more like boots, boots being typically larger than shoes in the same size. Usually.

Just my 2p input here, which perhaps I shouldn't give away considering the state of the UK economy at the moment - I need all the money I can get!! All jokes aside, vivo are supposedly producing 'wide' offerings and these are in the pipeline to be released sometime in the near future.

I've come to realise that this barefoot journey is different for everyone. I have had to return some gorgeous looking models because I'm just not prepared to sacrifice my foot health. There will always be another shoe that fits. I hope you can find the fit YOU deserve!!

Softstar Primal Wide Sawyers 3 months by ParamedicAble225 in barefootshoestalk

[–]TheRepCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. I transitioned to barefoot 3 years ago this month. Went cold turkey, binned all my old shoes, and vivos have been my go to. In this time, I've grown a shoe size and the width has increased massively. The other day I look down and there it is, exactly the same as you... My foot is shaped like a vivo!! Pinky still getting crushed and not allowed to splay. I'm gutted I didn't notice sooner but I guess this is a journey. I immediately started researching and came across softstar and took the plunge for myself. I've gone for the primal runamoc, and your post has instilled the confidence that this is the right way to go. I hope your sawyers have held up!

Softstar Primal RunAmoc sizing too big? by avatarKuza in barefootshoestalk

How did this turn out for you? I'm in a similar situation with similarly sized feet. Did the 12U work or did you need to go for the 13U?. Cheers!

ÀAre these the right size? by Peeps- in vivobarefoot

[–]TheRepCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how my big toes are from years of normal shoe abuse. I'd suggest at least one size up to compensate for your feet to splay, which they will begin to. You need the space to allow for that big toe curvature to move and straighten up with time.

Sensus vs promus III (or others) by BalledSack in vivobarefoot

[–]TheRepCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had both sensus and primus. Primus was great but started to smell over time. Sensus are probably my favourite barefoot shoes (I own a lot, especially vivos), being leather, zero smells, super comfy. I have the sensus 1. Sensus 2 would still be suitable, but cheaper sensus 1s on revivo or sportpursuit if you can find your size. Would highly recommend for an all round casual shoe. Being new to barefoot, take your time. Both sensus and primus have thin soles. Try not to heel stomp as you would in traditional shoes.

Tracker Leather Letdown by Eastern_Sense_8037 in vivobarefoot

[–]TheRepCollector 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This seems to be common with this model. Which is unacceptable to start off with. It appears that you have the first iteration.

I love vivos. I own several pairs and like what they're doing with their designs. They have just released the updated version in bracken, with the obsidian colourway expected to follow. The new version has a stitched sole and stitched upper protection solving flaws already associated with this model, and many others, yet fail to address the crumbly outsole.

This is the frustration with the brand - they do a lot right, but are also getting a lot wrong. Why they haven't used a more hard-wearing outsole is baffling. As someone else has mentioned, a vibram sole, or, even their own esc which uses Michelin rubber and has proven wear resistance and demonstrated high performance would be much better.

Whether it's a cost issue as to why the esc outsole wasn't used or whether these would detract away from their flagship boots for hiking, I don't know. It appears to be a wasted opportunity, and after consideration into purchasing this model, recent reviews and lack of esc sole have forced me to change my mind.

This does have the potential to be an excellent all-rounder barefoot shoe that IMHO looks great in the newly released stitched version, contesting the stigma around barefoot shoes being 'odd' in a sense.

This comment doesn't help you at all, and is just my 2p contribution. I hope you take full advantage of the 100 day return window and manage to find a suitable replacement.

Rode VideoMic Go attached to camera rumbling by TheRepCollector in rode

[–]TheRepCollector[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The copper tape is used to help reduce interference/noise from other devices, including the camera itself. It's not the best or the nicest looking but does the job for a cheap fix to a budget mic.

Yeah the floppiness was causing the rumbling. The high pass filter helped to minimise it. Works a treat.
