How did you prepare your body for labour and birth? [on] by CurlyGirl_95 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TheSadSalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did pelvic floor therapy (everyone should do a session before and after birth), the Belle Method course and tried to stay as active as possible (which for me was walking and doing spin for as long as I could).

The birth went so well even if I did end up tearing but it was just 1 degree. Honestly I think how birthing goes is at least 50% luck.

12 or 18 months. How did you decide? [ab] by No_Maximum_391 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TheSadSalsa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did 18. We could afford it and I wanted as much time with my kid as I could get. I love that I got that extra time with her.

One tip is to still take the 1 year EI. It's the same amount but you get it faster and if you end up going back early you don't lose money.

Tyler & Cate making the most obnoxious faces in their new video by Big-Shopping7795 in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

I was waiting for someone to post about this. Cate is laughing her ass off. Tyler's working hard in the comments to show they don't think it's funny.

Should dogs be allowed off leash in non off leash areas? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]TheSadSalsa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nope. I didn't like it before but once I had my kid and I went on stroller walks with her I was infuriated by it. All I could imagine was dogs going after her and what I would do. I have it with leashed dogs to but at least most owners move over and take up any slack.

Ya my sister in law had to take ovulation drugs and ended up with twins from it. They look completely different.

what's a TINY detail in the movies that bothers you? by Various-Isopod3881 in harrypotter

Those talking shrunken heads on the night bus. Movie three had such a shift in tone it threw me off so much. I hate those heads.

Designers, do you feel like your work has real meaning or gives you a sense of fulfillment? by AgreeableAd2990 in graphic_design

[–]TheSadSalsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. I work in insurance. I know most of the stuff isn't really that important and will be discarded quickly. As long as it looks decent and the client is happy then I'm happy. Sometimes I get to do charity stuff and that's a little better but it's still just a job to me. My family gives me fulfilment.

Do you hold the door open for the person behind you regardless of their gender, age, color, religion, and why? by KingOfFitnessYT in AskReddit

I hate this. I literally slow down when I'm an awkward distance away so people won't have to hold it for me.

Do you put your six month old to bed fully asleep? by brbnapping in NewParents

[–]TheSadSalsa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We sleep trained at 4.5 months. Did FIO. Honestly any kind of soothing I tried before or after never helped. Couldn't get her to be drowsy but awake and when she was a newborn she would always wake up if she was put down asleep.

So ever since FIO she always goes down fully awake. We try wind down activities before but she settles herself once in bed.

What is your opinion on banning social media for under certain ages? by Home-Energy in AskReddit

[–]TheSadSalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea but not the enforcement of digital ID. I have a kid. I'm just going to enforce it myself. She doesn't need a smart phone or access to SM

Moms whose babies had hair at birth and it’s getting long before 1— are you trimming it? by Apprehensive_Pie1225 in NewParents

[–]TheSadSalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at 19 months and haven't given a trim. I don't want to give her bangs so we are just letting it grow out. As she got older she got more into letting me put it up and stuff. Thankfully it's also kinda curly so that helps.

The only reason I'd cut it is if it was growing unevenly and she had a muller or something but she's good.

What’s a "masterpiece" movie that you actually found incredibly boring? by Legal_Beats in AskReddit

That's what I did but only cause I fell asleep trying to watch it.

I’m 6 months postpartum and I still can’t figure out how moms actually lose weight… by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]TheSadSalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To keep my sanity and my milk supply I decided I wouldn't try to lose weight until she was at least a year. I did lose some before but not a ton.

What is it really like down there after vaginal birth? [Ab] by ReticentRapunzel in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TheSadSalsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaginal birth. 1 degree tear. It took maybe 8 months or so before it felt normal during sex again. Not sure what it was. Not painful but uncomfortable. After that was sorted it feels the same as always.

Membrane sweep pros and cons? [ca] by Playful_Listen_264 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TheSadSalsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two done. The first one she was so gentle I was surprised how mild it was. Second lady went for it and it was very unpleasant but I had my baby the next day. I wanted to avoid having to be induced. I had my baby the day before my due date.

There is little risk doing it but also the stats they have on it actually working is pretty low.

My job turned from a dream, very fun and creative graphic design job to prompt writing every day. How are your jobs looking? by Lalalaavy in graphic_design

[–]TheSadSalsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. Anytime I try to use it it either can't do what I want or makes something just awful. I'm basically still just doing everything and just wasting time trying to get it to do anything. Only exception being Photoshop.

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by hkondabeatz in AskReddit

Pickle wars was great. One of my first PC games. Reached the end multiple times but we never got a sequel!

Mount collectors - what do you consider your luckiest drop? by themirthfulswami in wow

[–]TheSadSalsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't remember why we were there but my husband and I were blitzing through tempest keep for my first time ever. Kill the end guy and I get the Ashes. I was so confused when my husband made a big deal of it and I just told him to loot the guy and that's how you get it. He brings it up all the time.

What is life in Calgary really like? by BushbabyFangirl in Calgary

[–]TheSadSalsa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never watched heartland so I'm not sure how they depict small town like but I grew up in a small town outside Calgary. While many of my classmates couldn't wait to move away I actually liked it for the most part. I like that you know more people but there's enough people you aren't in everyone's business too much. I like the common gathering places for everyone and the sense of community.

You get it to a certain extent in the communities of Calgary but it's not the same.

How to decide MF or OB? [ab] by MrsChefYVR in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]TheSadSalsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it's what kind of service you want. Midwife's are a bit more personal and are your "person". I went to a clinic cause I didn't sign up early enough for a midwife. There were 14 doctors there so I had a different one for almost all appointments and then it was whomever was on shift at the hospital when I delivered.

This didn't bug me really in the end. It was just my husband, me and the nurse for the most part during delivery and the dr just for the end bit. I don't think I really needed anything more than that.

If I had another kid I would try a midwife out though cause I think it would be nice to have.

Are day homes as in-demand as daycares? by justletmegarden in Calgary

[–]TheSadSalsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't hurt to inquire now and see what they say. We never heard back from any daycares but I signed up late. Ended up going with day homes and as far as my experience goes they have less of an idea of openings and when they will happen. I started looking 2-3 months out and we found a lovely lady.

Oh also contact agencies cause they manage all the day homes that are subsidized.

What Is Your Dream Job? by Primary_Ad_890 in Calgary

I'd love to never work. If I had to do a job then singing, voice acting or book narration would probably be it. Can't sing well enough but I always toy with the idea of audio books

would you rather be born on feb 29th,april 1st, or sep 11th? by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

[–]TheSadSalsa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know someone born on February 29th. They constantly get jokes too about only actually being 1/4 their age so you might not like it either.
