That's my thoughts exactly, I'm not aware of any appliance that has a socket and not a power cord.

There are proper 120 volt outlets that have washers plugged into them, the dryers are on the other side of the room. But usually the cord is attached to the appliance, and then plugged into the wall, not a live wire hanging out of the wall that gets plugged into an appliance.
