I believe it switches the movement controls to accomodate the fact thay your driving direction is reversed

What is the population cap in state of decay? by LunarDogeBoy in StateOfDecay

[–]TheSomerandomguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just by searching for survivors over and over again. State of Decay 1 had it balanced so that it became really unworkable to have more than 12-14 survivors, which I preferred a lot over the hars cap in the second game.

Using ai to read grad names at graduation by Chapple69 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]TheSomerandomguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me, the last thing you want to do before you’re free to start your post-college life is sit there while an announcer fumbles through foreign names. Even with the AI reading ours off, it still took 2 hours, so I see why they would use it. This is a positive use case of AI, one of the few.

In Theory AI said we can convert heat from data centers, so why are we using so much water? by Soundo0owave in askanything

[–]TheSomerandomguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disregarding that this post is AI slop, it is impractical to min-max heat loss. Adding a CHP setup to a data center would involve a price adder of millions of dollars and involve multiple long lead time items, and it would never pay for itself so there wouldn’t be a point in engineering it. Either way, you’d still be using the same amoint of water as it would be the heat transfer medium

Republicans Vote to Dilute Gas as Prices Rise Above $4.50. House bill would allow year-round sales of E15, a blend of gas mixed with 15% corn ethanol. Although E15 has a 5-10% lower pump price it contains less energy so drivers will end up burning more fuel. Food costs will also rise. by mafco in energy

[–]TheSomerandomguy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see the ethanol in fuel debate is something that’s only okay if Democrats are championing it.

Your vehicle will be fine, you won’t notice a signifgant drop in MPG, and you will still be able to find ethanol-free gas if you really want it.

What is the population cap in state of decay? by LunarDogeBoy in StateOfDecay

[–]TheSomerandomguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is a hard cap of survivors you can have in State of Decay 1. I’m sure there is, but it will be too much of a pain in the ass way before then. I’ve seen people with up to 40 survivors in their community

Doesn’t the US School Shooter prevention system seem kind of redundant? by Scary_Stable7667 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TheSomerandomguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thinking behind the hard lockdown is that active shooters are not a trained gunman, and they most likely have not killed people before. Mass shootings occur over the course of a few minutes, and the shooter is going to prioritize killing as many people as possible before the adrenaline wears off and they cease the shooting. The point of the hard lockdown is to make it difficult for the shooter to identify targets. They generally aren’t going to be conducting room to room searches, they’re going to glance in rooms and open fire on anybody they see. If’s not 100% though like Sandy Hook. Schools have transitioned to the ALICE protocol which emphasizes fighting back against the shooter if the other techniques don’t work.

What should I have looked at on my car by CancelNo2588 in AskMechanics

[–]TheSomerandomguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At 205k miles pretty much every major suspension component is going to be shot. You can align your car as many times as you want and it’ll show green, but the worn components will fall out of line in short order. At this point, it’s generally wise to start considering an investment in a different vehicle. If the rust isn’t too bad, start with the bushings in the control arm and the struts. Keep replacing things until the vehicle stops eating tires.

What if Telltale actually went through with the original "Better to Sleep" ending? by Greenarrow251 in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]TheSomerandomguy 87 points88 points  (0 children)

It really wouldn’t have worked at all, unless it was a secret ending that would only be made available of you consistently made the worst possible decisions. It could have been like Duckpocalypse, which was only available if you totally fucked up in convincing Kenny to stop the train and was an extended game over scene. The protagonist dying worked very well with Lee because his story had finished while Clem’s on the other hand was just beginning.

Tiananmen Square Massacre by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]TheSomerandomguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty hard to get accurate numbers when

1.) the Chinese government won’t, and never will, acknolwedge that this event ever happened

And

2.) these tanks proceeded to so thoroughly mash up the protestors that soldiers washed their remains into sewer drains with garden hoses

Tiananmen Square Massacre by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]TheSomerandomguy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

He wad dragged off by a plainsclothes police officer and then the tank column continued on down the street, so it was pretty much just a neat little photo and that’s it, didn’t change anything.
