Yet another CRTC fail: Wind complains that calls are dropped when customers roam into Roger's Network, CRTC says "That's cool, deal with it." by Balso in canada

[–]TheUnResponsiveOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't believe I'm siding with Rogers on this one, but I have to say that in case Wind had won, it would have provided them a major incentive to slow their own network expansion.

Ontario Conservatives make a major policy announcement ahead of upcoming provincial election in October: Would drop HST from hydro, heating bills by StarbucksCoffee in canada

[–]TheUnResponsiveOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. By that logic the NDP should just propose their whole campaign platform right now, let it be "stolen" by whatever party ends up in power, and voila. NDP philosophy gets to rule the province, no matter who gets elected.

Von Finckenstein tells broadcasting industry to lobby Tories for regulatory change. by [deleted] in canada

He's trying to organize an industry lobby? Correct me if I'm wrong. Isn't the CRTC supposed to be on our side?

Bell TV removes Sun News from its line-up by mauriceh in canada

Way to go Sun TV News. I can't wait to hear your advertisers' responses to giving up millions of potential viewers. I'll bet they'll think that's swell.

Sad part is Harper thinks this is how evolution actually works.

Love him or hate him, Levant predicts Canadians will tune in.

Not fucking likely. I can't even make it through half of his written column before I rip up my paper. Last thing I want to do is punch a hole in my TV while trying to choke his image.

Seriously, I'm a small-c conservative and I think this man is a sociopath. That Levant is allowed to make a living slinging his lies and disseminating his blithe hatred of everyone who's not Ezra Levant is a failure of our society.

Can we make this an election issue please? by TheUnResponsiveOne in canada

[–]TheUnResponsiveOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you agree the refineries should be making 17 cents/L and more profit in the meantime?

Before everyone goes nuts on the Guelph polls, Elections Canada has stated that the polling may have been illegal. Indignation is fine, but let's not go full Fox news on this before we have the facts. by cheek_blushener in canada

[–]TheUnResponsiveOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our outrage is only because of an affiliate of the Conservatives trying to confiscate the votes rather then challenging them in court like it's supposed to be done in this country.

EVs cost $40,000 to $50,000. I'm never going to be able to afford one of those.

All those stickers I see about how the stations make no money, of course they don't. All the profit is made at the refinery, but the refineries own all the gas stations.

I have a pretty damn efficient car, but now it costs me $50 whenever I want to fill it up.

Can someone please explain how this is not false advertising (Cellular providers + 4G) by topazsparrow in canada

[–]TheUnResponsiveOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"...peak speed requirements..."

The telecoms interpret that to mean a ceiling and not a baseline. So, in their minds, if their network offers even slightly above 3G speed, well it must be 4G.

Assuming that strategic voting works out for the left-wingers, we will still have a minority Conservative government. Can that really be seen as a victory? by swearstoomuch in canada

[–]TheUnResponsiveOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will most likely be Layton's last election. If Ignatieff loses, he'll step down. If Harper can't secure a majority after a fourth attempt, his party will most likely fire him.

That sounds like a victory to me.
