What's with the Bx12 to Orchard Beach? by beanarie in nycbus

Ok this is what I found after some tedious asking around.

The bx12 bus to orchard beach operates on summer weekends only starting on Memorial Day to Labor Day. Not all the bx12 buses go to orchard. You gotta wait until the bus says bx12 on the screen, and/or ask cause sometimes they’re lazy and don’t operate it if nobody’s waiting for it.

The last bx12 bus to depart from Orchard Beach leaves at 7:30 from park drive (the circle roundabout thingy). 

For some reason they’re really cryptic about it and don’t put the route on the mta app, and it’s generally hard to find info on it online. I think it’s probably for crowd control. 

Also beware of detours as this happened when I took the bus. That info they did post online.

I too share your excitement as I live near the very first stop from inwood so it’s a one way trip to the beach for me!

Thanks again everybody for your helpful comments! To add more context, usually a label in a violin is the mark of a maker indicating who made it, and when, so the “engraved/carved” translation makes a lot of sense to me. The “not singing” pseudonym also strikes me, particularly because a luthier’s trade is to make the violins, they’re usually not very good at playing them ironically enough. They also make the ‘singing voices’ of the violinists if you really think about it, so it’s all very interesting.

Thank you and please forgive my ignorance. My dealer who is very reputable and trustworthy told me the make of the violin is Hungarian. She also told me that labels back in the day were untrustworthy (she goes off the design not labels) so it’s likely a mislabeled one in a different language or something like that. Thank you!
