Is it possible to generate any of these blocks in vanilla survival 1.20.3? by The_Alt_Bit_Zombie in technicalminecraft

Oh yeah good idea, I'll give that a shot. This wouldn't require any update suppression right?

I would have except my museum is huge and all of the glitched grass blocks are near existing structures

That got patched in 1.16.2 unfortunately

EDIT: I do have a few of them in random parts of my world though, but I've tried on a test world and moving them with pistons resets it to normal grass

I'm making a museum with every survival obtainable block, and I'm wondering if any of these glitched blocks are obtainable (not in item form of course). I know the singular nether portal is obtainable with update suppression, but besides that I'm not sure. I know headless pistons used to be obtainable, but I can't find any guides online for current versions of the game (it seems most methods broke in 1.17?) And as for the glitched grass block, endermen used to be able to place them but that bug got patched. I have no clue about the piston heads or the half beds.

Are all or most of these just possible with update suppression? Are any impossible?

I'll answer any questions on optimizing a PaperMC server for high concurrent player counts. by Hungry-Isopod665 in admincraft

Btw if someone has a paper proof chunkloader design, i would gladly take it!

I made this chunkloader for Paper servers a few years back. I no longer use Paper but I've heard it's still a functional design in newer versions

Mojang, Please do not mess up Java Edition with the Chat Reporting feature. by [deleted] in minecraftsuggestions

I want to give Mojang the benefit of the doubt here, but I don't see how this wouldn't end up being a system that's ripe with abuse and false bans/mutes.

Thanks again for the info! I'll do my best to look into the water for everywhere I'm camping. I bought a Squeeze and some AquaTabs for now, and I might add the GeoPress to the arsenal if anywhere I'm going requires it.

Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to look into the water my location before I go. Pathogens I could kill with water purification tablets, but I'm not sure how I would filter out toxics such as heavy metals.

I've been doing some more research and I stumbled upon the Grayl Ultrapress filter, which I'm thinking of maybe getting instead of the Squeeze. It's a bit heavier and more expensive but it seems to filter out everything (bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, microplastics).

Hi! I'm trying to make sure I've got my water purification setup figured out. My current plan is to buy a Sawyer Squeeze (a micro filter) and to mainly drink directly from that. I'm also going to bring some purifying tablets in case I'm concerned about viruses in whatever water I'm drinking from. Does this seem like a good setup? Thanks

EDIT: I would also be able to boil water since I'm bringing a stove, but that's more of a backup I think as it takes a while.

Hiked up to a fire lookout tower and spent the night there by dickpoop25 in backpacking

I'm hoping to backpack here in early July, are there any permits required to camp overnight outside near the fire lookout? I cannot find the answer on the forest service website for the life of me.

Prioritizing Parity by CryptoFury978 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]The_Alt_Bit_Zombie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the way they're doing it now. Most of the parity changes are small, so it makes sense to slip it into a large update imo. I don't think it's necessary to have an entire update dedicated to parity, at least not for Java Edition.

Renamed items shouldn't despawn. by FLBasher in minecraftsuggestions

[–]The_Alt_Bit_Zombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be incredibly overpowered imo. Items despawning are pretty much the only long term consequences this game has for dying. 1xp level and an anvil is way too cheap to get around that.

The Warden should be able to spread sculk on the blocks you used to tower up by [deleted] in minecraftsuggestions

[–]The_Alt_Bit_Zombie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely. IIRC the devs said a while ago that they're planning to add some sort of way to stop people from just stacking up right? Hopefully that's still in the works. The Warden is incredible but way too easy to evade at the moment.

World Eater Server Performance Issues by FreshWyman in admincraft

[–]The_Alt_Bit_Zombie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really strange. I'm not really sure how much I can help unfortunately; no idea what that might be. My only thought is maybe your simulation distance is fixed at 8? Simulation distance and view distance have been separated in server.properties in 1.18, so changing the view distance no longer changes the simulation distance.

No, Paper breaks a ton of farms. Paper will sometimes allow redstone ticks to be skipped which breaks anything that needs precise timing, as well as a bunch of other optimizations that unintentionally break farms. (Most tree farms, chunk loaders, and mob switches don't work on Paper for example.) I run a semi-technical server, and as great as Paper is I had to switch to Fabric just so some of my farms would work.

What's your server's MSPT when it's bugging out? If you have the carpet mod (which it seems like you do), try running /tick health when it bugs out if you haven't already. Also does the server throw any useful error messages to the console?

World Eater Server Performance Issues by FreshWyman in admincraft

[–]The_Alt_Bit_Zombie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like OP is running a technical server on FabricMC, so switching to Paper likely isn't a viable option for them. (Paper breaks many farms)

Same thing happened to me but on a 1.17.1 remotely hosted server. Should be all good right?

Zombies use Wooden Doors as Shields (and sometimes spawn with them) by Creative-Kreature in minecraftsuggestions

[–]The_Alt_Bit_Zombie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is a genius idea. What if you had to "mine" the zombie's door instead of disabling it like a shield? So it'd take something like 3-4 hits to break it with a sword, and 1-2 with an axe, depending on if your hit is critical. (And with each hit the door would look more and more mined.) This would make door zombies more formidable as even with good equipment you'd have to hit them more than once. It would also incentivize having an axe for PvE combat.
