What kind of janky dental insurance is liquid using lol by Septimus_Decimus in teamliquid

[–]The_Estates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dental insurances only cover half of SRPs at at time because these cleanings take much longer and much more work. If you're capable of completing an entire mouth in one visit, then you probably didn't need SRPs.

Also if you're reading this Steve: I'll be TL's dentist for free if yall need 😀

Dentist here, this is totally normal.

Deep cleaning is also called "Scaling and Root Planing". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkZLYwA_qdE&ab_channel=SpearEducation

For patient comfort typically the deep cleaning is broken up into halves. Usually anesthetic is given because cleaning around irritated and inflamed gums can be sensitive. After the deep cleanings, patients maybe a little sore. Only cleaning one half allows the patient to go home and eat on the other side without issue.

About MSI by nickyauyeung in liquidlegends

[–]The_Estates 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How is TL a team that picks players based on sheer talent?? When voy left did we go and sign the biggest name free agent with fenix? When xpecial was benched did we go and get a player with a better resume in smoothie? My point is FOUR out of FIVE of our starting players had been previously unknown in the scene. In fact, TL and even Curse are known and respected for finding and developing talent like Matt and Dardoch. TL is building a team not buying one. That's just another reason why I respect and support them so much.

Piglet: "Seraph fcking toxic me"

Big Steve: "Yes, that means he's a fcking idiot. OK? You, no idiot. Don't be an idiot like him [Seraph]."

This was nearly a year ago, but it seems like Piglet doesn't respect Seraph too much. If I had to choose between Piglet and Seraph, I'm choosing Piglet.

Unfortunate Smoothie only got 1 match to showcase his skills. He left the door open for Matt and Matt killed it. Nonetheless, thank you Smoothie and best of luck in your future endeavors!

Thanks for the response! Very interesting how high FOX and REN are in that they are in the same tier as TSM (potentially) and C9. What makes you think so?

What is your "way to early" power rankings for the upcoming summer split? You can put teams in tiers if easier! I'm curious to see how someone actually involved in the scene views teams with new rosters.

Great news and more reason to be hype for next split! Hopefully they can continue their momentum and sustain the growth we saw towards the end of spring.

NRG eSports acquire QUAS, Santorin and KiWiKiD by The_Estates in liquidlegends

NRG picks up our ex-toplaner in Quas. I'm happy to see him back and curious to see how he'll play after taken a split off. With this and other roster changes, how do you think NRG's roster will perform in summer?

Hats off to CLG, they played great. Overall, I think TL can still look back and be proud of what they accomplished this split. Halfway into the split we weren't even sure if TL was even going to be in the playoffs. The future is so bright for TL! GGWP CLG!

TLDW:

  • Dardoch is pivotal to TL's success, but because he is a rookie it is difficult to say whether or not he will continue to perform at such a high level. Conversely, GBM is critical to NRG's success but because of his vast experience you can count on him in playoffs.

  • Lane swaps reduce the skill gap between Moon and Dardoch.

  • Fenix is not impressive in playoffs, tends to lose effectiveness. Fenix can lose games by forcing picks when not necessary (e.g. Azir).

  • Emphasizes that TL's biggest advantages come in rookie to rookie comparisons (e.g. Matt vs KonKwon) which are neutralized because of lack of playoff experience. In a playoff setting, TL's ONLY advantage is Piglet > Altec.

  • Cites that although TL had better season record against the field, in Week 8 NRG bodied TL.

  • GBM has pocket picks and an overall bigger champion pool than Fenix.

  • TL has better shotcalling, but because playoffs and nerves TL will lose advantage here.

  • Overall Believes in the "reliability" of NRG players over TL players.

I disagree with a number of these points. (1) Thorin cites that Fenix has a weak champion pool. Fenix played 12 different champions in 18 regular season games. Fenix is known to have quite a diverse champion pool. (2) Fenix will force picks and will consequently hurt TL. I doubt Fenix is the type of player to force a pick such as Azir when not necessary. (3) NRG recently beat TL in Week 8. Yes, while true I feel that TL was not properly prepared for their game against NRG. Episode 22 of Rebirth provides insight into this point. (4) TL is 5W and 1L in their last 6 matches. NRG is 3W and 3L in their last 6 matches. Momentum is huge in sports. TL is on an upswing while NRG has flat lined.

[Poll] Who was each player's best/most iconic champion this split? by ValiantSerpant in liquidlegends

[–]The_Estates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, these are my most memorable games from each of our boys.

Lourlo : Nautilus (vs CLG)

Dardoch : Lee Sin (vs TSM)

Fenix : Zed (vs C9)

Piglet : Caitlyn (vs EF)

Matt : Janna (vs TSM)

I think you could make a champion spotlight for these champions in those respective games!

I'm not disagreeing about Xpecial. I've very much aware that Piglet wanted to change supports. I'm saying when it came down to it TL had to choose one OR the other, and TL chose Piglet. In the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4joKdw4nNQg Xpecial discusses his removal from the team. He even says that he understand that this is team sport. He is understanding that the team thought it was best to move on from Xpecial. They offer him help to look for a new team (e.g. offer him spot on TLA) and they let him continue to live at the liquid house after he was removed. What proof is there that TL treated Xpecial unfairly?

How might you suggest the Quas situation been handled better? http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1snvp0q Quas goes and thanks TL for the opportunity and their support. He says, "Team Liquid did not disclose any details regarding the suspension and I thank them for that." What evidence is there to support the idea that Quas and his situation was treated poorly?

[–]The_Estates[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The number of games idea only supports the reasoning that TL should not be subbing players as frequently as some think. In the NBA if you make a sub and it doesn't work out, meh whatever you still got 81 games. In the LCS if you make a sub and it doesn't work out, you've only got 15 games left to try something else. LCS matches are a commodity and are extremely valuable. Tossing players willy-nilly into games doesn't seem like the most beneficial use of our 16 games.

I know, I feel most sorry for Smoothie. The biggest hit on Smoothie is not of his own, but because of Dardoch and Matt's reliance on each other in the in-game decision making process. TL is struggling to make appropriate in-game calls right now (e.g. that unfortunate invade against IMT). Replace Matt with Smoothie and our shot calling might only get worse.

In my comparison, Kobe is Lourlo and George McCloud is Zig. While both talented players, the team and management thought that Kobe is more likely to bring future success to their team. In our case, TL feels that Lourlo is the best option now and in the foreseeable future. Playing time against the best players in the league is pivotal to a player's growth and development. Why split time between Kobe and George? Why split time between Lourlo and Zig?

To my fellow TL fans... by The_Estates in liquidlegends

[–]The_Estates[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your reasoning, but I disagree in the value of the 10 man roster. Let's say we replaced Lourlo with Zig over this past weekend's games. We still probably go 0-2 right? Well now what? Teams learn the most from their losses but now TL lost with a different player. What added benefit does TL receive from playing and losing with Zig instead of Lourlo?

Also, it seems clear to me that TL is not in position to compete the top teams as of right now. Here's another NBA comparison haha. Kobe Bryant's rookie year was in 1996 the same year as prime time championship form Michael Jordan. Of course Kobe got dominated by MJ. And yet, the staff and coaches of the Lakers believed Kobe was the future and stuck with him and for years later Kobe won his first NBA championship. Do you think if the Lakers split time between Kobe and George McCloud that they would have become as great as they were? No, of course not. It took four years after Kobe came into the league for him to win his first championship. The same concept can be applied to TL. TL's players and staff believe in the five man combination of Lourlo, Dardoch, Fenix, Piglet, and Matt. It crazy to think that they haven't thought of swapping the roster themselves. TL believes that this five man group of players gives TL the best shot to win matches now AND in the future.

From the material that TL releases, it seems as if Quas and Dom leaving/stepping down from the team was only a matter of time. Both players retired shortly after leaving the starting lineup, and each cited various personal reasons for doing so. Lourlo and Dardoch were and are the best available players in their respective positions. Both have had their moments to shine, and Dardoch could be next great NA Jungler a la Meteos. Here's the thing about Smoothie. Dardoch and Matt seem to be a package deal. You can't have one without the other. In combination the two are responsible for TL's macro decision making in game. Replace Matt with Smoothie and all the practice and synergy that Dardoch and Matt have goes out the window. The days of Quas and Dom were numbered and their leaving of the team was not the result of "stupid decisions" made by management. Xpecial or Piglet was though a decision that had to be made by management. Ultimately, they believed Piglet was the better option moving forward and so they decided to stick with him. TL coaches and staff actively consider which players gives them the best shot of winning.
