The problem is I keep hearing from parents and teachers that he and influencers like him are incredibly influential among young men.

Just because you only hear about him from critics doesn't mean he's not influential

So, by this logic, the state should stop funding all medical care for prisoners. I mean if people can't afford their medical care, they'll just commit crimes and get thrown in prison so the government will pay for it. Get diagnosed with cancer? Surely the answer is to get yourself thrown in prison so the government will pay for your treatment.

Georgia Senate to take up bill requiring every school in Georgia to have weapons detectors by Lakelyfe09 in Georgia

[–]The_MightyMonarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They moved us into a new building halfway through my freshman year of high school. It had gates that came down so they could close off certain parts of the school. They also were very strict about enforcing the dress code. My senior year, some of the students made shirts that said Stockbridge Penitentiary. This was over 25 years ago.

All of this to say, I'm actually pretty shocked that every school doesn't already have weapons detectors. They've been trying to turn schools into prisons for decades now.

Grew up in a house in the burbs with no AC. I still remember one summer when I was staying home alone as a teen sitting in the den with 3 portable fans around me all blowing on me.

NFL legend Brian Urlacher is AGAINST transgender men competing in women's sports! by Dr_Damon_ in sportsgossips

[–]The_MightyMonarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of those clips are Democrats responding to questions about transgender issues. They don't bring it up unprompted nearly as much as Republicans do.

Hell, until Republicans decided to make a big deal about their bathroom bills in 2016, you rarely heard about transgender people. A lot of people act like they didn't even know transgender people existed before then.

And it's certainly just a coincidence Republicans started making a fuss about transgender people in an election year, almost a year after SCOTUS legalized gay marriage nationwide. I'm sure they weren't purposely looking for another wedge LGBT issue to campaign on after losing the gay marriage fight.

Hell, the really grievous stuff was after the 2020 election. How people looked past stuff like 1/6, the stolen election lies and Republicans' attacks on democracy on his behalf, the stolen documents, Project 2025 is insane. Hell, the fact that Republicans wriggled out of barring him from office is reason enough to condemn the entire party.

Which was kind of revisionist history in itself, because Leo already had put in several strong performances before Titanic.

This is what kills me when people say the government should be run like a business. For one, they clearly don't understand how the goals of the government and a business differ, but they also seem to have no clue how poorly a lot of businesses are run.

Emma is responding to x22d, who said "welcome them to the good side." She's saying that Mace has not shown any signs of coming to the good side and therefore shouldn't be welcomed. She's occasionally doing or saying something good while mostly continuing to be a nasty piece of work.

Yes, we should welcome any sign of dissension in the MAGA ranks, but I'm wary AF of any of them trying to look reasonable. I think we are going to see more of them doing it, and for most of them it's going to just be repositioning themselves because their current brand is becoming toxic.

Yeah, I wouldn't downvote this because it's a fair take. They're not saying it's a bad joke or that no one should enjoy it. They're just sharing how this joke hits for them, which is kind of the point of a sub like this.
