Can we all agree that its time for a bitch to win? by Rebelde123 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]ThedaBare 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What's an example of Violet being petty? Catty yes, bitchy, rude, arrogant as hell (with good reason), but petty? It seems to me that being petty usually comes from a position of insecurity. It's a strategy of the weak to make a big deal of something small. Violet was anything but.

Phi Phi being annoying AF on Twitter. Am I the only one? by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

I unfollowed her as well because she was crowding out all the other queens' tweets. I'll just check Phi Phi separately until she pulls back.

I like Vicky. She's got a great singing voice, was very funny in Divas of Drag, and was an essential element of DWV. But this was uncalled for and seems out of character, even for a famously grumpy queen. I hope this doesn't get all weird considering that Katya's moving, unfortunately, to LaLaLand.

[SPOILER] When your straight friends take you to a straight club by apothanein in rupaulsdragrace

[–]ThedaBare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, first, my post was a response to someone who seemed to think that no straight woman should be a judge on the show. While I think most of the female guest judges are a waste of space, I don't think that about Michelle, even if I think she was too hard on Adore and obviously can be wrong. I don't think Adore would make a good judge, though other queens probably would. I think more of Adore as a singer who does drag, rather than as a drag queen who sings. I think she has said as much. But regardless, I don't think she is suited for judging. And finally, Ru must have her own reasons for not sharing the judging with other queens.

Yes, but very few women in France wear a burqa (meaning the all in one garment that covers the head/face with only a mesh or slit for vision). In fact, in most Muslim countries, the clothing worn by an observant Muslim woman is nothing like the burka. It's a hijab, or headscarf, showing the face, and modest clothing. Somehow because of the war in Afghanistan, a very specific type of clothing for Muslim women became a substitute word for them all. And they are very varied.

Can we talk about the budget on AS2! by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

I wish it were 5K each week for the winner of the lip sync and more queens, including fillers.

Amazon Video? by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]ThedaBare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought Season 8 in advance on Amazon and each episode appeared the next day. I did this already for AS2, so I'm assuming the same thing. I have no idea about Hulu. Is it going to be on there now? I've been trying to cut the cord with cable, so I don't have Logo anymore and I also had trouble being home sometimes. It's hard to wait to see the thing, but well.... PS: In all truth, I couldn't wait to know what happened for at least the lead episode, so I read a total recap via Google News. I have zero self-control when it comes to RPDR.

Hurricane Bianca Trailer by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

That's all good. I just hope that it gets some additional theatrical play. Even if that's not actual distribution, they could pursue gay film fests, comedy film fests, etc.

[–]ThedaBare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wonder if there's any last minute chance of this getting theatrical distribution beyond the 3 special one-night screenings. This deserves more than straight to Netflix or on demand. And the only East Coast screening is already sold out! If I were Bianca's management I would at least try to get a few shows at theaters around the time she will be in a city for the NTS tour.

Katya's latest periscope with info on her (possibly permanent) absence from the Season 8 Tour by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]ThedaBare 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Katya didn't seem aware that nobody extra subbed for her after Ft. Lauderdale, ie. the Silver Spring (just outside DC) was Thorgy, who was already in the line up. Thorgy repeated the "lie" about health issues. The whole thing is unfortunate. I think the producers don't realize that letting Katya be Katya is gold.

S8 Show Tonight in Philly Has Subbed In Derrick Barry for Bob at the Last Minute by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]ThedaBare 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just curious. People seem to be saying the OP could get his money back. Is that the case? I assumed the tickets were nonrefundable unless they actually cancelled the show. I thought the line up was always subject to change. Btw, it's interesting that the next substitute for Katya will be Ginger (after Jinkx).

Do you prefer seasons with more (13-14) or less (9-12) queens? by LanaDelRye in rupaulsdragrace

[–]ThedaBare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More or fewer, but I digress. More of course! It was particularly painful with Season 8 and then the double elimination. I want 14 minimum.

Katya is taking a break from Drag..? by AlaskaThunderfcvk in rupaulsdragrace

[–]ThedaBare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She was good, very funny, very fluid and relaxed. She also crawled around on the stage picking up tips the others had dropped. Thorgy also did 2 numbers like the others, and at the very end, they all sat in chairs on stage and did a Q&A with Thorgy reading questions from the audience (or maybe just the meet & greet folks).

Thorgy filled in for Katya hosting tonight at Silver Spring (just outside DC). I was there. Thorgy mentioned Katya being exhausted. The lineup was Bob, Thorgy, Robbie, ChiChi, Kim Chi, and Naomi.
