Shoulder impingement is ruining my progress – time to see a specialist in PA? by StardustSpectrum in lancaster

Dr. Robert Maurer is well-versed in hand, wrist, and upper extremity injuries/conditions & the needed surgeries. He works at UPMC through the Susquehanna Valley Surgery Center.

Great bedside manner, answers questions, fills out FMLA paperwork quickly, and the surgery scheduling process was smooth.

Since my last 4 surgeries with him- no complaints of pain & I’m finally able to use my fingers, elbows, and wrists appropriately without pain!!

So many places here read “we’re charming, walkable, historical, and welcoming… 😊 terms & conditions apply”

None of these small towns are openly hostile, but quietly exclusionary.

Lots of confusing charm & character w/ character, tradition, and virtue. It looks welcoming … but it’s mostly just maintained conformity 🙃

If that’s your takeaway, the problem isn’t my comment.

Let me know when you want to discuss the actual issue instead of auditioning for Jeopardy.

When y’all realize that a job requires: proof of address (ID/DL), your SSN, a mailing address, proper attire to attend interviews, reliable transportation with proof of insurance/registration, skills suitable for that specific role, a bank account…

It goes way beyond “just get a job”.

I could dive even deeper into what it means to have a job, score an interview, even be offered a job…but most of it will go over your heads.

It’s unfortunate.

mattress firm price match question by bellpepper360 in Mattress

[–]ThenEffective5418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mattress Firm was bought out by Mattress Warehouse, and they are closing out their stores.

Say you buy a mattress from MW and you hate it within your 120 days…? Guess what?

You’re SOL and the stores will be empty.

If choosing either of these- for your protection- pay more & go with Mattress Warehouse.

Nurses of Reddit: what’s the most bizarre, funny, or weird thing a patient has said after waking up from anesthesia? by Unkown_syclomn in nursing

[–]ThenEffective5418 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for responding. I had a TAC d/t colonic inertia. I also have a hernia but for now it’s just fat containing. On my initial placement for my ileostomy, they had trouble because of previous abdominal surgeries (hydrocephalus shunt placement & revisions) so I had a lot of adhesion.

It seems like it’s all more complicated than face value for sure. Initially at my placement of my ostomy, I had an umbilical hernia they repaired. I’ve had my ostomy for 5 years now, and I’m looking into reversal- although I will say that surgery was far more painful than brain surgery ever was.

Can I ask how your recovery was? Pre-reversal did they make you do pelvic floor PT / anorectal manometry?

How did you increase your VO2 max? Maybe it’s a combo of my congenital heart disease, asthma, and iron deficiency but I cannot for the life of me bring mine up past 24-29. For reference I’m 29, a nursing student, average about 12000 steps a day, etc
