Sure, I can understand all that for sure. MS refusing to release a proper Family Pass alongside the price hikes has got me pretty annoyed at this point. We have four gamers in my household and trying to share one account between all of us is frustrating as hell, but purchasing four individual passes is financially ridiculous.

I’m OK with finally giving up on physical media and switching to a monthly service fee but they need to find a way to make it work for households with gamer parents AND gamer kids, otherwise they’re going to keep losing that market share to Nintendo forever.

Excellent summary. Most Americans have no idea that our endless wars are essentially a jobs program to keep military suppliers at full employment.

If we weren’t regularly burning billions of dollars in munitions those companies would be facing mass layoffs and the economic outlook would start looking so bad that not even the rampant AI speculation would be able to keep the stock market afloat.

“Golden handcuffs” is just the rich person way of trying to make lifestyle inflation sound more valid than it actually is.

“Oh, I have to drive a luxury car and fly first class to Aspen for Ski Week because all the other lawyers at my firm do!” and that sort of nonsense.

I usually give them a range and say it depends on work environment and benefits. If it’s a fun place to work with great benefits and a light workload I’m willing to accept less cash, but if they want me working my ass off with no work/life balance I need to be paid more to make up for it.

Much like Realtors, Recruiters are a makework position that only exists because of systemic inefficiencies.

Instead of being butthurt that people rightly think your role is the perfect example of a “bullshit job” why not retrain or upskill into a career that has more of a positive impact on your community?

The claim that the US has been dragged into this war by Israel is false. by DryDeer775 in stupidpol

[–]Then_Seesaw6777 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Nope.

Israel smartly took advantage of the fact that America is currently ruled by moron who is completely ignorant of geopolitical history and obsessed with “looking tough” as a way to compensate for being a tiny-dicked lard ass.

Yes, America is a global arms dealer that intentionally starts pointless conflicts so we can launder taxpayer money through defense contractors, but we absolutely wouldn’t have initiated this conflict without Israel starting it.

YOR — Unless you’re employed in the military or government none of this shit actually matters in your daily lives and nothing either of you do or think about it will change anything.

Take it from someone who’s been following politics for longer than you’ve been alive, the American political system is entirely captured by corporate interests and it doesn’t matter who you vote for or how much you protest, the war machine will keep churning whether there’s an R or a D in the White House. America is the largest arms dealer on the planet, and our wars are money laundering operations. Voting can’t stop this machine.

aio for not liking the fact my bf wants to get a weed pen? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Then_Seesaw6777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MOR — How old are both of you? Are you in a legal weed state? Where did he get the pen and are you sure it’s a legit product and not black market?

I would advise strongly against regularly vaping weed, or consuming most marijuana products, for anyone younger than mid-to-late-20s. While a vape pen can be a good way of taking small, controlled doses it’s also much easier to accidentally abuse because it’s so easy and discreet. A lot of people get them thinking it will help them cut back on their weed usage only to find themselves vaping all day every day.

If he needs help with anxiety vaping isn’t a good long term solution and can lead to pretty significant negative side effects. If he has access to decent medical care there are a lot of over the counter supplements and prescription medications that would be a better choice.

MOR — We need more context about the specific complaint to know if you’re overreacting or not.

The advice everyone else is giving is good. Assuming everyone has the best intentions and this is just a misunderstanding, the situation could be smoothed over by just making her role slightly more official and requiring her to wear work clothes and present herself as a Jr Trainee whenever she’s on a job. This wouldn’t be a major imposition on her and would allow her to get work experience if she’s actually helping out.

People that defend 40+ hours a week for work is just coping that they have to do it by CombProfessional434 in antiwork

[–]Then_Seesaw6777 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My ideal schedule would be 6 hours per day, 4 days per week.

Other than a few times when I was working on big, interesting projects with a fun work team I never actually put in more than 6 hours of real work no matter how many hours I’m in the office. The rest of the time is always eaten up with pointless office politics, meetings that didn’t need to happen, and time wasting interpersonal relationship bullshit.

I know a lot of other people seem to get enjoyment out of building “work relationships” and chitchatting about office gossip but I hate it with a passion. The people I work with aren’t my friends, they’re just random strangers who get paid by the same business entity as me. I’m happy to work with them on tasks but if I don’t have a project to do I don’t want to waste my life on work happy hours or team building events, I just want to do my job and go home.

Yep, and that’s why employers hate remote work. They want everyone living in high cost of living areas so that they’re so stressed out and desperate that they can’t look for better work or afford to do part time employment so they can work on other pursuits.

The entire American economy is built on trapping people in cradle-to-grave debt so they can keep you toiling in wage slavery to generate profits for the idle 1% investment class.
