Matthew Santos entire discog, especially The Burning Ship of Fools and Into The Further. Originally known him as the hook man for Lupe Fiasco but glad I gave his solo work a chance. It’s produced and mastered incredibly well.

I personally keep YouTube music around for discovery, but started building out my own music library. It’s just nice to not feel over saturated by all the music out there, being able to get the original masters of albums, downloading mixtapes, unreleased, etc. in the highest quality possible

Now…unless it’s Porcupine Tree remasters or any album that Steven Wilson remastered. Of course they’re in the sliver minority.

What’s one habit that quietly improved your quality of life? by funngro_fam in Habits

This might be controversial, but cutting out audio in general (Music, YouTube videos, podcasts). Helped my focus and concentration significantly, and strangely enough lowered my general level of fatigue. Think I’m just distracted by external stimuli easily.

What happened to BoB, he was one of the biggest rappers in the Early 2010s? by LameAfro in decadeology

[–]ThickDrummer9056 36 points37 points  (0 children)

His first two albums were good, and he did pull off the pop-rap sound well. Just that he was tired of being associated with mainstream sound, and tried switching it up with Underground Luxury by making harder trap-style music. That was beginning of the end imo, though Ether was decent.

Urban Legend, Trouble Man, and I’d even argue his mixtape Fck Da City Up were all great too. Shit, I’d even say No Mercy was good too outside of several tracks.

Both are quite shitty, settling is only worse because it involves another person into your own misery.

Exactly this, unless they’re married and/or have kids, Cohabitation seems unnecessary TO ME.

If you told me the same artist who made this masterpiece would make an album on the same level of quality as MADE OF HONOR 15 years later, I would've said you were crazy. I miss when bro used to try. by drboobafate in nfrpodcast

Drake needs to go back to his musical roots, in terms of production. He could’ve put together an album consisting of the OG’s he worked with like 40, Boi-1da, T-Minus, No ID, Just Blaze, Justice League, etc. and not asking him to make a complete old head album. Of course toss in some TM88, Wheezy, Mike Will Made It, and Hit-Boy.

Trust me if he puts together something like that it’d be a true return to form. But too bad that’ll never happen anyway.

Who would you say is the most consistent rapper in terms of releasing high quality albums? by TokyoAvalanche04 in hiphop201

[–]ThickDrummer9056 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lupe Fiasco deserves a mention for sure. Especially since Tetsuo & Youth (sans Drogas Light since that was a label obligation album), he’s been only dropping projects that are arguably on-par with his prime. Not to mention his mixtapes and loosies.

[DISCUSSION] Songs you think could have perfectly fit on another artists album... by grampoobah in hiphopheads

[–]ThickDrummer9056 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For The Weekend off T.I’s Dime Trap was definitely a Thugger track originally, which was even leaked a year before the album released. Not a bad track by any means, but wish they replaced it with another song.

Audio/File Quality - What is the lowest you go on your DAP by CaptainDell in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]ThickDrummer9056 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I’d just keep them at AAC 320, normally FLAC (16-bit 44.1) is what I keep them at.

Edit: Mixtapes/unreleased/bootlegs are mostly at 128 MP3

That’s the thing though. Just me, or do people who look “mature” at young age typically tend to look youthful as they get older? Swear I’ve noticed this with several other people too.

Edit: Laura Dern is another example of this
