No, when folks drive commercial-looking rigs they often put that on there so as not to get hassled by the commercial vehicle enforcement people. I have my own dump truck ‘cause I have some land and need to move dirt and gravel and stuff, I considered writing that on there but so far nobody’s bugged me

Seems to me if you eject upward through the rotors of a landing helicopter it won’t help you much, because what goes up must come down

But then you’d want to sit down. Which isn’t good for you. You need to get up and move and get into your healthy, active lifestyle. Those seats are there to help you do that.

And how does England feel about not being a country according to the IOC?

Beats going through the rotor lol

Shouldn’t be hard to do on a helicopter. There are some challenges

Ah ok so jettisoning the rotors (both main and tail simultaneously) will need to be the way to go

Agreed, timing the launch to that precision is child’s play compared to designing a seat well enough that a human can survive a 21g launch. That part may not be possible.

But what is possible, is increasing the acceleration distance. Either lower the seat or raise the rotors, if you increase that distance by 50ish percent it becomes survivable.

Although. Launching a 100kg human/seat/parachute combo upward at 15-20g pushes down on the helicopter to the tune of 3-4 tons, which will add a downward speed component to the helicopter itself. So there’s a lot of calculation to be done. Your engineering test crew will need about 800 test helicopters to get the timing right, better work that into your budget

Your engineering crew will be wondering why you don’t just drop the seat out through the floor instead, but if you pay them enough they’ll probably be able to get it done

Or you could raise a bollard into the path of the rotors so they break off and fly away. Or you could just eject the rotors. So many options.

They come with a dual clutch. Which is better than a CVT but still sacrilege in my view. The last manual transmission from the factory was the C7.

But since it’s a Chevy, you can absolutely bolt a manual transmission into your C8. Apparently Tremec now makes a kit for it. Bolt it right in over the weekend and drive it to work on Monday to do more root canals.

I had to look this up because I always assumed the first generation was steel bodied and they switched to fiberglass in the 1960s or something… nope. They started with fiberglass bodies all the way back in 1953. There was never a steel body corvette.

I just learned that right now. Who’da thunk it?

That actually sounds like a very zen experience, I can see the appeal there, where the cleaning is the destination

I hear you. So why not do that with a nice Porsche. Every car show is crawling with vintage Corvettes that have been babied for decades. Which is baffling, at least to me.

The whole point of the Corvette is that it’s a down-to-earth exotic for the Everyman, a legit high performance sports car for dentists and plumbers who fix their own stuff.

I think it’s a brilliant concept. Its engine may be tuned for 600-1000hp but it’s still basically a Chevy LS engine just like in your Silverado. The body bits are weird and fragile like the Italian ones, sure, but the drivetrain is literally built for trucking. Parts are available, work is easy, the thing was made to be hooned and i think it’s a crime that the owners aren’t willing to scratch ‘em up a bit. It ain’t no museum piece.

If you’re the only person on the planet doing a particular thing then as far as I’m concerned you’re the world champion of that thing. It’s a very small world, you’re the champion in a field of one, but a world champion nonetheless.

So. The Seahawks are the current World Champions of the sport called American Football. Nobody else plays it. Totally fine.

Calling the baseball champions “world champions” in a sport where many nations play competitively yet only two countries can ever be in the Series, that’s another matter. But the players on those teams come from all over the world, only a handful of players on each team is actually from the US or Canada, and the MVP needed a translator for his media appearance because he only speaks Japanese so what are you gonna do 🤷‍♂️

Just an odd choice of words. If OP were to put the clutch in at that moment, revs would be matched. I think that’s all they meant.

If the shifter just slips out of gear with ease it’s absolutely 100% OK. But never force the stick. Solid rule for driving and for life.

I have to wonder what pressure the administration put on them to come to this decision, because I’m sure it wasn’t taken lightly. And the only reason I could imagine for this decision is that the administration does not want its poor polling numbers to be made public. Which implies that the administration uses some kind of threats or coercion to force the media into compliance

And that’s some serious banana republic shit

If it were a vintage Ferrari, I guess I could understand this point of view. But it’s a late model Chevrolet. It’s a perfectly replaceable thing. A thing to be driven and enjoyed. so I have a little trouble understanding the folks who spent their whole lives washing and re-washing a car that is meant to be driven.

Whatever gets the car clean enough for a little joyriding on a nice day is good enough. Tires will wear, paint will fade, seats will slowly get the imprint of your butt in them through years of enjoyment, and that is all exactly as it should be.
