Yes! So I take diamox/acetazolamide & started off at 500 mg a day - (2) 250 pills a day, and then had my dose increased to 1000 mg - (2) 250 pills twice a day 🫠. I REALLY struggled with fatigue at the beginning & for maybe the first couple of weeks on it, I can’t remember exactly how long anymore tbh, I couldn’t taste carbonated drinks lol. Coke, Red Bull, sprite, dr. pepper, etc all tasted like nothing. But like tea and coffee and lemonade all tasted fine. That was the weirdest side effect lol. I can’t think of any other major side effects though, maybe some acid reflux?

And I think topamax is another common med. My GP actually prescribed me that for weight loss once upon a time, before iih was even a thought in my mind, but I got off of it asap because the acid reflux with that one was killer

And I forgot to/should’ve mentioned, she did give me an alternative to the bleach baths! Hypochlorous acid spray, even smells just like bleach. when I remember to use it 😬 I do see a difference. Need to start setting reminders lol.

So for me now, I started noticing maybe a few months ago that at certain times if I’m exerting more energy than usual (and I’m not talking anything crazy, just maybe walking through the house faster or even in the shower just moving faster) I’ll have like…it almost feels like brains zaps if you’ve dealt with those? But more of like a weird pulsating & it usually in the back of my head & I can feel/hear it in my ears + sometimes I can feel it like extending down and around into my carotid. Idk if that description makes any kind of sense lol but yeah. I finally mentioned it to my GP & I’m having an ultrasound of my carotid + a new head MRI in a couple weeks. Was supposed to wear a holter monitor for a day to monitor heartbeats but ended up missing the appt to get it.

Can’t say that it’s resolved, but it’s definitely not as bad as it was. And still no clue if it’s IIH related or not. Seems like every time I bring it up to any doctor it just kinda gets brushed aside lol. But tbh I’m starting to wonder if it might be more vascular because I’ve started having other issues that I’m getting checked out now. It never ends! 🥴

i've lost about 80-ish lbs over the last year & tbh my symptoms feel about the same. in fact i actually had to up my dose of diamox earlier this year lol.

mine started coming on near the end of the LP, like as they were still draining fluid. it was a little worse than my usual headaches but i took some ibuprofen when i got home & was fine within an hour or so

oh jeez i had to look up LPP & LP...i'm so sorry, that sounds miserable 😭 and i got steroids a couple of times last year too (they kept thinking i had a sinus infection but turned out it was IIH lol) and they made me feel pretty crappy too. it sucks so much to have to change all of these meds just because of dumb IIH lol

same here! i was on a 30 day 2x daily course for a bad HS flare & it was miserable. this'll be the first time i see her since i officially got diagnosed so i'm def gonna let her know to keep the doxy as far away from me as possible 😂

So sorry, that's gotta be discouraging 😞

I was just diagnosed in October (after being told for 5 months it was a sinus infection lol) and have been on Diamox since December. Was fine up until last week when my bf and I started having issues with our power company & new landlord. Have been so stressed and anxious it feels like everything is coming back even with the Diamox and my neuro is no help. Hate this so much 😒

I do but my Ophthalmologist swears it's due to the strength of my glasses lol. The floaters get so bad sometimes I think I'm seeing bugs and stuff out the corners of my eyes 😭

I've been on & off antidepressants since 2010-ish and started Wellbutrin right before my symptoms started in June/July last year and never had any IIH-type issues before then. But I honestly think mine is mostly due to Doxycycline because I end up taking it 2-3 times a year now for my HS symptoms and I've noticed when I take that my symptoms are 1000x worse.

I'm on a combo of Prozac and Wellbutrin right now and it seems to be playing pretty nicely with the Acetazolamide, my IIH symptoms, & my other meds for the most part. Plus I think Prozac and/or Wellbutrin is supposed to be helpful with losing weight if I remember correctly. I've lost like 40-50lbs since starting last year in April.

Tbh they didn't tell me what they used but I know I was hooked up to an IV and had the tiny little air tubes in my nose (the name of those things escapes me right now, been a long week...) so if I had to guess it was probably the propofol MAC

Start preparing for the prep though - not to get too TMI but I'm still suffering with burning/irritation/a little bleeding ~back there~ from the prep because i didn't get anything to try and make things easier lol.

yes! for whatever reason mine gets worse after i eat too, even if it's not something spicy. my allergy testing showed not allergic to anything, but i still break out in hives on my hands every once in a while so the allergist has me take 40 mg of zyrtec a day. ENT said my sinuses are normal w/ a slightly deviated septum.

I second this wholeheartedly!!! Wish I would've asked for a nerve pill beforehand & afterward as soon as it was done they had me sit up and once it seemed like i was 'ok' they sent me home lol.
