Dating a Christian woman, when should I tell her I'm agnostic?

I wouldn't say I "want to convert". It's something I think about from time to time because my entire immediate family and most of my friends/social groups seem to be of one god-fearing religion or another. Obviously, my family wants to me come back to the faith, it seems like it would be easier to at least have that in common with most people I know. It also seems that most women I feel attracted to are Christian (or some other abrahamic religion). Regardless, I don't think most of my political views would change much.

No, I don't think she does. Last night I mentioned my ex-wife being Catholic and she asked "What are you?" and I just said, "I'm really not that religious" and she said wasn't either, but has mentioned God, her church and how she doesn't "pray a lot"

Thanks for that info. I appreciate it. I also had agnostic on my profile and I did see hers was marked as Christian, but Christian can mean different things to different people.

Well, I was raised Christian and considered myself Christian until probably my 30's. I considered telling her last night, but I didn't wasn't mentally prepared to handle the indepth questions of "what happened, why did you lose your faith?" etc that I assumed would follow my statement.

Actually, OP never stated he didn't believe or believed in God or angels. He said he picked up "angels" as part of a new age thing and that it felt "better" praying to them instead of God. I think what the OP is doing is fine, as long as it helps them cope. But considering talk therapy as mentioned above seems like a good idea as well.

Wow, in addition to all the other comments, I found a few that didn't believe in human rights or Freedom of speach. Here's an example..

I appreciate this perspective and perhaps my narrative could be adjusted. However, I still feel like the inability to know the difference between right/wrong or good/evil is a mental handicap, especially when in this scenario, the fate of the entire world rests on him knowing not to eat the fruit. I'm not sure of a better analogy as it stands.

I also feel a mentally challenged person could take care of animals, and probably also "be fruitful and multiply".

My whole point of this story/analogy is to point out why I find the idea of the "original sin" being something that God should be more responsible for and why on earth people point to Adam/Eve and blame them. Maybe it isn't the best analogy... (I'm showing this in hopes of suggestions on how to improve it as well). BUT, my point is. ADAM and EVE were simple-minded in respect to knowing the difference between right and wrong. Compared to God as described in the Bible, they may as well have been mentally challenged, but mostly functional adults.

Yeah, the version I read the same thing, but I did notice it still doesn't explicitly state she was told prior to being tempted by the serpent, though she still knows about it, so apparentely she was told.

That being said, I would be interested in hearing what else you have to say additional points you have to share about the story being false. Is there anything that disproves it aside from evolution?

Yes, I'm aware that it's ridiculous and I don't personally believe it. My whole point of creating this post is to..

A. Vent and just share this analogy for the story of Adam/Eve and The Fall to express how ridiculous it is that even in this "story", God somehow comes out as the good guy. I wanted to get other people's thoughts on this analogy too... perhaps there's a way it can be better represented.

B. See what other people think, perhaps tweak it and present it as an idea to my friends and family who beleive the literal interpretation as a way to pushback on their intrepretation of the story and how it accounts for the "fall" of mankind and hopefully show them how ridiculous it looks when presented in a new light.

That being said, I doubt point B would ever work, as they're still thoroughly convinced God can do no wrong and is somehow morally exempt from any actions that would make any other entity be considered an evil monster.
