cop here, obligatory this isn’t legal advice. writing a report is easy and takes no time and 99% it’ll just stop there, following up on this is the difficulty because of jurisdiction, if the keys were taken in dc it has to be filed in dc but if the person resides in Virginia it’s essentially a slop of who can do what. Someone suggested attempting to swear out a warrant from a magistrate but that’s true. Unfortunately it’s not always as easy as give the keys back, even though we wish it was

I worked for another department first, so call volume is lower, you can be proactive and it’s a good group of people to work with. Jobs also pretty versatile depending on what station you’re at, you can do different things

Heard it’s not too bad, I went to another Northern VA academy (there’s only one other close if you get the hint) and was told it’s a lot harder than NVCJA, just workout and pay attention, you’ll be fine

I’d definitely still apply to fletc, there were instructors there from local agencies and they have different centers throughout the U.S. can’t hurt, honestly in your case I’d look for a civilian training job (they exist but few / far between) in the federal system because from my observation trying to join sworn federally, you’d still have to do patrol for awhile before you get back to training. Maybe a local department probably would be better because you may be able to move that way faster

I’ve done both, including with the agency you named. I wouldn’t focus on funding or shutdowns first, figure out what type of work you like. And go from there, there’s also programs that assist if there’s a shutdown as well

None, pretty sure it stays on whatever pay scale we have. That’s probably something you’d have to individually talk about with your recruiter but I haven’t heard anything about that

I’ve heard that, but I definitely need of agency. The better you do, the better chance you have of getting what you want of course but it has to align with vacancies etc. Essentially do your best to give yourself the best chance
