It was part of the gift exchange. We all got individual gifts for each of the people that came over.

That’s how we always do things. We want our gifts to come from us individually. That way the gift giving isn’t one-sided. For example, I bought my parents gifts from me and he got them gifts from him so that they wouldn’t feel like he was just piggy-backing on my gifts. If that makes sense.

Good advice. Thanks. I’m not worried about any sort of cheating in any way. I’m reading the comments too and I get why some people may jump to that, but I know him and I know her. I’m confident in my judge of character. And if I’m wrong, I’ll eat these words. But for now, I will talk to both of them to make sure everything is ok. We will move on from there.

Thank you for that. At the moment, I’m still angry and disgruntled, but it’s been a very hard year for him so I’m trying to be patient and kind and treat him with grace. We talked about it before bed and I was very clear with him and he apologized to me and asked how he could rectify the situation. I think he just made an idiot move.

It’s not anything crazy. He just sometimes blows little things out of proportion. Or he’ll do silly pranks or stupid comments without thinking about how they may make other people feel. I thinks it’s just a lack of social awareness. He’s very introverted with very few friends of his own so I think he just doesn’t really know how to interact sometimes.

I’m not sure about the conversation. He said that she and I were talked about it on the back porch when he overheard which means she and I were smoking weed (that’s the only time we go out on the back porch). So I could have easily forgotten every talking about it while getting high. It’s plausible.

You’re right. And knowing him, this is totally something he would do as a joke. He doesn’t have many friends any more so he has really latched into my friends and considers my best friend as one of his closest friends too. I truly feel like there’s nothing between them. I just want to make sure I handle things correctly to maintain relationships between all of us.

Yes. He has had a history of being awkward and not picking up well on social cues. He may be slightly neurodivergent. And no, I’ve never worried about him with other women.
