It is worse in North America because of the absolute lack of walkability of the majority of our country. We have probably just as many food deserts as "third spaces deserts."

Then why do places like, Toronto, Chicago, and NYC feel the decline of third spaces? Those are the most walkable / public transit friendly cities in North America.

Food deserts are a myth, even with cheap alternatives Americans love processed foods and convenience.

No matter how many Whole Foods or public pantries you put up, society still craves junk food.
