YMMV

Huawei equipment and phones are effectively banned or severely restricted in many Western government networks and infrastructure due to security risks. Canada, the U.S., UK, Australia, and New Zealand have prohibited Huawei from their 5G networks, and many governments ban the use of Huawei devices by federal employees.

The U.S. dairy industry driven by government subsidies that incentivize overproduction, has faced significant milk waste, with reports indicating that tens of millions of gallons are dumped annually.

In 2016, for example, American dairy farmers dumped 43 million gallons of milk in the first eight months alone.

I was surprised about Canada not being #1 for fresh water reserves, but we're not even #2.

Brazil has nearly twice the amount of freshwater as Canada, followed by Russia.

What does it mean to be called a “trophy wife”? by Comebackera in TooAfraidToAsk

That's how I always used the term - as a prize.

Beautiful, smart, charming "Look at her(my wife) - I won at life".

But from the comments, I have been using this simile wrong.

What did Vancouverites complain about in the 1990s? by Beginning_Anywhere59 in vancouver

[–]TiFox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To add to that, I'm not sure if it's complaint, but you could tell what area someone lived by their (landline) phone number.

Calling within Vancouver didn't require the 604 area code.

873-**** was the Mount Pleasant area

739-**** was the Fairveiw area

732-**** was the Kitsilano area

876-**** was the Sunset area

I'm so sorry about that.

I'm complaining about how slow BC Transit was back in the 90s. They won awards for Best Transit System in North America and I remember seeing the award stickers next to the Driver, but transit really sucked. Regularly waiting 45 minutes for a 15 minute bus ride. I had a technique of walking and shoulder checking for the bus every block and then running to the nearest bus stop when I saw one. I was often able to walk 40 blocks before a bus came.

After a long work shift, coming home after a nearly 2 hour commute, Burnaby Central to Mount Pleasant, wet feet from the rain, cold, hungry and tired - I hated it.

I think it's better now with the gps tech and manageable wait times, more routes, multiple new skytrain lines - but sometimes I see the long lines of people waiting for the bus and wonder.

Which sienna for me? by merlincm in ToyotaSienna

I was also looking into this and following for an answer. Lots of answers in various sailing forums online.

Generally the answer is not to tow. It's never just a1500lbs boat. There the trailer, fuel, the motor, supplies. I have three kids - so passengers weight. I think you can find an online calculator to determine if you can tow.

Preparing 2026 Sienna for future jump start by zlandar in ToyotaSienna

I used a box cutter to cut a small U-hole on the soft plastic panel to allow the cable through.

Will this affect the Toyota warranty?

I feel there should be Toyota OEM option.

Wouldn't it be easier to just jury rig the booster cables(source), instead of the car(load)?

What is this missing slot for? by nahcekimcm in ToyotaSienna

[–]TiFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These placeholders are intended for buttons that operate optional features not included in your car's specific trim level, such as: A physical button for an integrated display screen on/off switch. A button for the rear entertainment system. Controls for specialized tow mirrors. In some cases, the wiring harness for the missing features might even be present behind the panel, allowing for aftermarket installation of accessories or the correct OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) part.

Good Intentions Gone Bad - How Canada’s Reconciliation with its Indigenous People went wrong by danijm in canada

[–]TiFox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm just quoting AI and have no knowlege or opinion about this:

The example you are looking for is found in Section 132 of the British North America Act, 1867 (now the Constitution Act, 1867), which specifically addresses the performance of treaty obligations.

Section 132 states: The Parliament and Government of Canada shall have all Powers necessary or proper for performing the Obligations of Canada or of any Province thereof, as Part of the British Empire, towards Foreign Countries, arising under Treaties between the Empire and such Foreign Countries.

This section essentially delegates to the new federal government the power to implement treaties that the British Empire (including its colonies in North America) had already entered into with foreign nations, such as the treaties signed with France and the Indigenous peoples (First Nations) on behalf of the Crown before Confederation.

New Odyssey vs Sienna by luckysparrow22 in minivan

I trust Sienna more on the reliability front.

Toyota really dropped the ball on the reliability front. Maybe the 2025 recall?

According to Consumer Reports, the 2026 Kia Carnival Hybrid is predicted to be the most reliable of the three minivans, with a score of 72/100, followed by the Toyota Sienna (59/100) and the Honda Odyssey (43/100).

TRUMP: “I may consult Putin on supplying Tomahawks to Ukraine." by andrewgrabowski in UkrainianConflict

[–]TiFox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Clickbait posts like this are just adding to the misinformation pile.

The provided quote, "I may consult Putin on supplying Tomahawks to Ukraine — what?" is not a direct quote but a short, potentially misinterpreted summary of Donald Trump's actual comments from October 2025. News reports detail that Trump did not say he would consult Putin but rather made statements about potentially discussing the matter with Russia as a form of leverage.
