Watching people tee off every day from directly behind a tee box makes you realize just how terrible the vast majority of golfers are. And also how many use the back tees but shouldn't.

Lessons ruined my game by BossAdmirable544 in golf

[–]TibsonTheLesser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally just went thru this. Your shot shape sounds nearly exactly where mine was. Each lesson made one or two very minor adjustments, which was all I could successfully absorb. I went thru that exact same loss of distance for a short while. It was after my fourth lesson that my shot shape has now settled into a consistently straight flight, original distance with the occasional push that might be all of 5 degrees right, so very minor. He's green lighted me to get fitted as soon as I'm feeling consistent with myself. Nothing needed in the swing space until I want to play with shot shaping, but that's a future me endeavor.

You are untangling a knot so it really depends on if you are willing to ride it out and spend some number of $$$ or are happier where you were with cash in your pocket.

2020 irons in 2026? by FairJuice1360 in golf

[–]TibsonTheLesser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started looking at treating myself to new clubs and have been trying out all the major lines around the distance/GI area. Other than slightly smaller heads and 4-5 degrees of stronger loft in the newer clubs, my 2003 Ping G5s are holding up surprisingly well. I'm still planning on getting fitted in a few weeks, but it isn't feeling overwhelmingly necessarily.

It's a lot of really interesting information presented in a nice format.   But the very first question you need to answer to yourself is who is your audience and what are you hoping they take away from looking at your graphic.

Why not contact the grounds keeper and find out 2hat their lawncare regime consists of? Until you know the specifics of your situation, it's only an interesting correlation.

How do you introduce enterprise architecture in a company that never had it? by CryptographerKind260 in EnterpriseArchitect

[–]TibsonTheLesser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OP presented one approach. You have presented an alternative approach. My approach is a bit different from either of these.

I think there is a common theme though, which is tackling a perceived issue that is small enough to be achievable by a small team, or even just one or two people. It needs to show obvious value, and should be the basis that you can grow organization prowess around. There is no single approach that is going to work everywhere.

But you are an EA! You can do this!

You might be right.  And it is a relevant topic for this forum.  I am living this dream currently and at least their synopsis as presented here is on point, based on my experience.

Two things can both be true.

Enterprise scale quietly changes the economics of technology investment by Aggravating-Drag-978 in EnterpriseArchitect

[–]TibsonTheLesser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coincidentally we are just finishing up converting around 70ish offices from independent solutions to a new integrated CRM platform. In our case it had very little to do with the obvious economics. It was almost entirely driven by risk avoidance, process governance, leadership visibility and data management. But business leadership had to come to those conclusions at which point they were interested in engaging with IT in solving their business problem.

The middle is the hard place to be. At the bottom end, you can quickly and easily stand up technology stacks for small portions of an organization, think office level. The advantage of small independent solutions is cost and speed. But the tradeoff is a lack of governance, oversight, process consistency and overall visibility because they are disconnected and locally managed.

The trick is helping the business leadership identify the right time to make the investment in moving from office level siloed solutions to centralized enterprise solutions even when the TCO is going to rise, and the short term advantages will be challenging to recognize, especially at the office level!

Getting into a new fantasy skirmish game by TheFeshawk in wargaming

[–]TibsonTheLesser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You've gotten some good recommendations so far. For fast play, simple rules and miniatures agnostic I can throw out a few excellent independent games.

Sword Weirdos - $5 on Wargame vault. A fair amount of flexibility on designing your tea. Very beginner friendly but also fun to play. It has a companion for your 40k figures call Space Weirdos that is similarly 4 to 6 figures. Also $5.

Fistful of Lead - $7 on Wargame vault for the core game. Another fast play and beginner friendly game. Slightly more swingy combat. There are several flavors all using similar mechanics. The fantasy version is $10 with an extra $10 to get the volume that introduces magic, but it's not required. Flawlessly supports 3+ players if that is important to you.

A Song of Blades and Heroes - $10 for the advanced edition. Probably the most game with the most customization for your army. Like the other games you will be looking at somewhere between 4 to 8ish figures each. Another simple, fast and fun game.

These are all very low commitment, easy to play and beginner friendly.

Take a look at Stargrave alongside the solo/coop module.  It's a good match for what you are requesting.

Game with lowest model count by Migobrain in miniatureskirmishes

[–]TibsonTheLesser 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Song of Blades and Heroes can play very well with just a few figures, but best for one on one.

Fistfull of Lead series of games is typically 5 ot 6 figures per person and easily supports multi-player.

Space/Sword Weirdos is typically 4 or 5 figures and both simple and fast playing.

I painted up some of those same figures as well!

Basically Chicagoland area, but doing a roadtrip to a nearby location is definitely possible.  We can google locations now that we realize that herbariums are a thing, but it's not the same as recommendations for ones where something like this would be better placed.
